? For this that have a nanny/sitter for child care in their home
DH and I are considering having someone come to our home to watch our DD after I go back to work instead of normal daycare. Just wondering what everyone pays per hour for this. I would only need 4 days a wk and would allow someone to bring their small child into my home too so I thought this would be great for a SAHM who wants to make some extra money. Any insight would be appreciated.

Re: ? For this that have a nanny/sitter for child care in their home
I am a SAHM and at one point I was watching two little boys in my home along with my DD. One child was here M-W-F from 730 to 330 and she paid me $65/day. The other child was here M-Th from 730 to 330 and she paid me $90/day. I was paid for the day if they cancelled on me but if they gave me advance notice, like for a vacation, I did not charge them.

Re: ? For this that have a nanny/sitter for child care in their home
I have a family member that watches DS 2 days a week about 8 hours a day. I pay her $50 a day. For in home licensed daycare, I have gotten quotes from $40 a day to $75 a day (both in the same town).
When I was a nanny (almost 20 yrs ago, gosh I am old) I was paid $200 a week and worked from 7A-5P. I had 1 child to care for and housecleaning and be there for an elderly grandparent. I wish I knew then that I was so underpaid.

We started our nanny at $15 an hour. Seemed to be the going rate in our area.

We brought DS to his sitter at her house (that was better for US....I wanted a changed of pace for DS instead of being home with her & then with us on our days off) 3 days a week. For the 1st 1 1/2 years we paid $60 a day. We gave her a raise to $75 a day. He always has been the only child she watched.

Our nanny (also an old family friend) comes to our house 3 days a week, 7a-5:30p and we pay her $200 for the week. I realize that this is a STEAL but she won't let us give her any more. Up until a few weeks ago, we only had her 2 days a week and we'd pay her $80/day.

I think it should be much less if she brings her own child. I also think it depends on the number of hours and what they are willing to do (laundry, housework, etc.). I think $100 a day for an 8 hour day for someone to come to you and watch just your DC is fair, but not if they bring their own kid. That's my opinion of course, but I don't think that they be paid to watch their own child.

Re: ? For this that have a nanny/sitter for child care in their home
My SIL (DH's sister) watches our DD in our home 5 days a week from 7 to 4 and we pay her $60 a day. She said she would do it for less but it helps me have a clear conscience. When we have a day off (like yesterday) we pay her half and will pay her the same for vacation. I don't pay her if she can't work a day because I have to pay my back-up sitter.

Re: ? For this that have a nanny/sitter for child care in their home
For someone to come to your house it's usually $500/700 per week (low to high range, 5 days, etc..)
So about $100+ per day!
It's usually $50-$60 per day if you drop your child at someone's home.
That does not include time off/vacations arrangements, the fact that she would bring her child, etc...

I pay $10 per hour for my two kids. I would say that's good for one or two kids, if they bring their own maybe a little less.
