For those not doing lamaze...
How do we go on a hospital tour? Do they just have specific time slots? Also, Are you taking the C-Section class? How do you sign up for it?

We are electing not to take lamaze/Childbirth classes. Our hospital (LIJ) does tours seperately.
As for c-section classes, I dont believe my hospital has a class like that, if anything I can only assume it's discussed during lamaze/childbirth class.

What hospital are you going to?
I am going to Winthrop and did not take a childbirth class.
I went to an orientation last night (slide shows, what to do when in labor, etc...)
I am going to a tour of the LDR suite in May. But only if you have a scheduled c-section.
No c-section class.

Im going to be in Good Sam.
I thought you had to take the c-section class or your DH/SO couldnt be in the room with you if there was an emergency section?
Im not planning on a section, but i dont want to be alone if there is an emergency.

I heard about the Good Sam c-section class requirement. They don't have it or require it at Winthrop for DH/SO to be with me if I needed a regular c-section.

I am delivering at Good Sam as well and have heard about the C-section class that is required. My doctor has not mentioned anything to me yet (I'm 26 weeks) but I am thinking of calling and finding out later today. I got the number off the web. It is 631-376-4159 if you are interested. I hope they can email or fax me a list of classes and dates etc.

There is a hospital tour "class" that is available for free. In the ACOG thing I did yesterday, we discussed that. (I am delivering at Good Sam also)

You do NOT have to take a childbirth class to take a tour. Just call the hospital and ask if they offer a tour OR if there is a time you could come and be shown around so you know where things are/where to go. I'm sure they have an "off time" where someone could show you around.

I dont think you need one, Its optional. I would like to do it so i know where everything is before i get there (nursery/NICU/ OR) i also dont know what kind of rooms they have there, LDRs, Recovery, Ect. Also, i just find it exciting and feel like it makes everything seem closer
