For those not finding out the sex of the baby

What made you decide this? Do you regret making this decision (do you wish you knew if you were having a boy or a girl?)

What have you done about clothes? Do you buy everything in yellow, orange and green?

I do not want to find out the sex, but I do think it creates alot of hurdles.....

Re: For those not finding out the sex of the baby

I did not find out. I always wanted to be surprised. My DH wanted to know, but I had the final say! We thought it was a boy all along, so when *she* was born, we were screaming!! The first thing DH said was, "Can we not find out the next time too!"

I knew the baby's room was going to be the nursery for the future children as well, so I wanted it to be neutral. Plus, at my shower we received a ton of neutral clothes we can re-use even if we never have another girl. When my DD was born I got what seemed like hundreds of PINK outfits anyway, so we had a great selection.

I do not regret it at all and I'm not finding out the next time either. Best surprise and greatest moment of my life!

I am really happy we are not finding out. I love the anticipation. We already painted the room purple and green anyway, when we first thought we would find out. I am so excited to find out when he/she is born. "It's A....."

We decided not to find out. The nursery will be maybe a yellow or mint green. We will work it out. I love surprises and this is one of the best surprises life offers.Chat Icon

I found out with my son, so we decided to be surprised this time.

It is fun everyone keeps guessing. I have all my son's old clothes and some are neutral, but if it is a girl I know people will get us tons of girls clothes. I will just purchase stuff for the nursery after the baby is born. The baby will be in our room in the beginning anywayChat Icon

I didn't buy any clothes other than some onesies. I'm not a huge fan of the unisex stuff so I just waited. Once she was born we got so many outfits as gifts, that she doesn't need anything else until the fall.

I agree with the above posters, we didn't find out and it was the best surprise of our lives.
We painted the room after she was born and got so many gifts, we didn't have to buy anything...but we did buy a few unisex things to have for when she got home.

We didn't find out and it was so fun! It was just awesome getting to break the news to everyone.
I got some neutral clothes at my shower, but after he was born I just went out and bought a bunch of boy onesies with the BRU gift cards that I got.
I painted his nursery about a month after he was born (he stayed in our room all that time anyway, so no biggy).

Re: For those not finding out the sex of the baby

We didn't find out for several reasons...
1) I've always dreamed of the moment when the doctor announces "It's a .....!!" I feel like all the anticipation of the pregnancy leads up to that one exciting moment! I can't wait!!
2) I disagree about hurdles- I wanted all the big baby gear in neutral/unisex colors in case we have a second child- I would hate to have a pink stroller or a blue carseat and not be able to use it in the future. Same with a bedding set, etc. We have a few onesies and some basic clothes, but we'll just buy as we need after the baby is born & hopefully get some clothes as presents. From what I've heard, you really do not need tons of clothes beforehand. No big deal.
3) I find it soooo much more exciting when my friends have babies & we don't know the sex beforehand. I love getting that phone call! I find it less exciting when they call and say "Michael Joseph was born today". Our family & friends are so excited to find out!
4) I feel like my pregnancy would've been a bit different had we known the sex. I love sitting in DH's arms and talking about what our little one might be... thinking of names for boys and girls... I love it!

We're not finding out. Both of us wanted to be surprised. I got alot of neutral clothes for the shower and we picked out neutral bedding. We will get blue or pink stuff once the baby is born. We can't wait to find out what it is!!!

Very well said. These are exactly the reasons why we decided to be surprised.

Re: For those not finding out the sex of the baby

We found out with Alyssa, and i kind of wish we didn't. It was nice doing her nursery girly but all the clothes and gifts at my shower were PINK, PINK and more PINK. Even after she was born, whenever someone came over with a gift it was pink. Even her onsies and blankets PINK. I was sooooooo sick of pink that i went to BRU and had to buy other colors.

ETA: If the next one is a boy, we have to do a lot of shopping!

Re: For those not finding out the sex of the baby

we aren't finding out, I think it is exciting. We are sickos though, and call my belly "Josh"Chat Icon I think it is a boy.

Like I will say, oh I feel Josh..DH says we will be so tired of Josh, the name, we won't want to use it.

For the nursery, we don't even have the house yet, I want blue and white stripes half up. Then panels on the bottom. I want a white distressed look, DH said too girly.

I don't think I am buying a bedding set at all. I don't want baby sleeping with comforter, and I want those breathable bumpers, so it seems like a waste. "Josh" will be a Christmas baby, so I want to find little holiday sheets for the crib.

Other then pjs and denim, we haven't bought clothes.

We didn't find out the sex and are still very happy with our decision. I can't wait to hear the Doctor say "It's a ..." It's also fun to hear all the guesses and reasons why people think it's a boy or a girl.

As far as clothes and the nursery, I plan on having more then one so it's better for my to have gender neutral things. Plus, I love the bedding I picked up and would have done that for a boy or girl.
