For those of you PG with twins or Have Twins...
I don't want to offend.....but wanted to ask, are you PG with twins naturally or with the help of fertility treatments?
There are several sets of twins on my dads' side (cousins of his, so they are pretty far removed) and was wondering how often it may occur naturally?
And does coming of The Pill increase your chances because ovulation is suppressed?

I have twins on both sides of my family, but I've heard it comes from the woman's side (so my mom's side) b/c she is the one that drops the two eggs...that is how fraternal twins are born. Identical can happen to anyone- that's just when the egg splits.
I was off the pill for a few months before we even started trying and I've never heard that so I'm not sure. What I did read (and will admit to doing  ) is taking extra folic acid increases your chances. I took a folic acid supplement with my prenatal pill. I also heard a report about 2 weeks ago that milk products (as of late) contain something in them that increases your chances.
Do you want twins?

in the beginning of the TTC adventure I would have LOVED to have a boy and girl twins and be done with PG and childbirth.
I'd still love to have them.....probably can't afford them though

I had mine naturally.
I was off the pill for over 3 months before trying (Got pregnant the second month)
There are no twins on either side

Mine are natural too and they are identical. I was never on the pill and twins don't run on either side of our families...but with identical twins the family thing does not count for that, only fraternal.
I think the family thing has to be on your mothers side.

Mine are natural and identical.
It comes form the mothers side, but if my dad had twins, that counts as the mom's side. the mom of the babies side. If my husbands side had twins that would not casue me to have twins, but anyone on my side of the family, even a male could influence it.
