For those of you that have a crock pot...

What size do you have? I'm looking at a 7 quart one from amazon.com, but I don't know if that is too big to make meals for just DH and I. Can anyone suggest a really nice one?

I think mine is just 5 qt and I love it! If you are into making more and freezing it, then get the bigger one!

I dont know what size mine is, but it is pretty big. So far, I have only made dinner for DH and I, but I like that it is on the larger side.

Do you just put more liquid in so that the little food that is in there does not dry out? I've never used a crock pot before. Chat Icon

No, I just make it as the recipe calls for.

I am brand new to the world of crock pots too! I just got one for christmas, and it is the best thing ever!

PS, If you are looking for a good cookbook for one, I got the busy mom's cookbook for crockpots, and it is great.

I have a 5 quart but want to get a 7 quart even though it's just me, my husband and my daughter. I find that when I want to make a stew, it gets a little tight in there. I like my veggies to have some room.Chat Icon

I also have a 7qt fro just the 2 of us.....we are big eaters, but I usually have leftovers, that we will just have another night that week or freeze. I really wouldn't want anything smaller.

I bought the All Clad Stainless Steel Crockpot from Williams Sonoma. It is a 7 quart. I love it. I was a little nervous at first using the crockpot when I wasn't home, etc. I did a lot of research on the different brands and this one came out on top. It's a little more expensive than your average crockpot ($99) but I feel it was well worth it.

I used to have a Rival crockpot and it didn't even hold a candle to this one. The food tastes fabulous and the safety of it is unremarkable.

i think ours is 5 or 6... but i say get the bigger one- you can make a lot of chili's or soups in there and freeze what you dont' eat... then, a month later when you don't feel like cooking- just get out the frozen food and throw it in a pot on the stove to reheat it Chat Icon
OR, just get 2 dinners that week out of one crock pot meal Chat Icon
