How many bottles do you plan on having in the house for pumping?

I currently have two but know we need more than that. How many should I get? Chat Icon

I have 4 of each - 4 smaller Dr. Browns glass bottles that hold 3.5 ounces and 4 large ones that hold 8 ounces (I think). I, however, started off with 2 of each at first (you only use the small ones for at least the first 10 weeks or so) ... I wanted to make sure that my Chat Icon would like them.

Also make sure you get the Breastmilk freezer/storage bags and/or containers so you can pump directly into them and then store.

Re: For those of you who plan on breastfeeding

you want to figure one for every 2 hours JUST IN CASE the baby does not latch (DD never did, DS did).

And you want that many to give yourself a chance to run them in a dishwasher load and still have some ready to go.

same for onesies, clothes, blankets, biibs. Give yourself enough to be able to last a full week without doing a load of laundry. You don't want to rush around trying to find clean clothes.

I'm going to buy more bottles tomorrow.

Thanks ladies!

As for the onesies, bibs, clothes...etc. my DD has plenty to get through a month Chat Icon I definitely won't have a problem in that department.

You may also want to get a few different brands of bottles to see what your baby will like. So I wouldn't go overboard buying a ton right away. You can always send out your DH to pick more up after you figure out what works best with your baby!!! Chat Icon

Good idea! Thank you.

I'm thinking of keeping a total of 6 bottles. I'll see how it goes and take it from there.

Re: For those of you who plan on breastfeeding

don't buy too many of one brand in case baby doesn't like them (or only open and sterilize a few so you can return the rest if you need to). i started with four dr browns 3.5 ounce and so far that has been enough. my pump came with four bottles also. definitely get the storage bags.
