For those of you with American Express credit cards
Have you ever disputed a charge?
I just did this for the first time today. I was extremely unhappy with a purchase and it's considered consumable, therefore ineligible for the AmEx return policy. The retailer refused to give me a refund.
How does this work and what was the outcome for you?

I think I once refuted a charge, but can't remember the details. Give them a call, I find if you haggle with them they give in, especially if you've been a cardholder for a while now. Good luck!

Re: For those of you with American Express credit cards
I do all the time
they rock!
we just got back $1500 for service done to the car that wasn't done right
I got back money for a rental car I felt had no brakes
sales leads that Jake signed a 1 year contract for that they kept charging us after
everything I have ever disputed as come out in my favor
I even disputed something with citi bank last week and that was easy also ( more car issues- the people who were fixing our pathfinder crashed it on the lot- offered to fix it- then wouldn't call us back- we traded the car in - but got an estimate on what it would cost to fix it- as back up)

Re: For those of you with American Express credit cards
Yes - I have disputed things and AMEX has been great. I once got charged twice at Cheesecake Factory but couldn't find the receipt to prove which one was mine. I explained to AMEX and they told me not to worry. The credited the higher amount and left the lower - then went to Cheesecake Factory for the merchants copy. They never answered AMEX so AMEX gave me the benefit of the lower charge.

Yes. i bought jewlery for my wedding from a well known vendor and turned out it didnt work with my gown, hair, etc. I returned it within the 30 day period and they didnt credit me. I called them twice and they said they'd call me back. Never heard from them.
Amex disputed the charge for me. I won.

Re: For those of you with American Express credit cards
Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling AmEx would be great in this situation. I disputed the charge so we'll see what happens.
I've been an AmEx customer for 7 years and have never used this service!
