For those of you with babies on Nutramigen formula...
Did the Nutramigen formula help your babies who were fussy and having problems with gas?
We started Katie on Nutramigen today after 2 more formulas bit the dust and failed...she has been in so much pain.
Just looking for a little reassurance that this formula may be what she needs.
1.5 hrs of sleep last night and 45 mins today is making both of us crabby.

Re: For those of you with babies on Nutramigen formula...
I give Luka Enfamil Low Iron. I tried the regular Similac advanced (the one the hospital give you) and then Similac Soy. The doctor thought he had a milk allegry but I thought it was the iron and I was right. The first 2 bottles he was a little fussy and he would push to pas gas now it just comes out.

Re: For those of you with babies on Nutramigen formula...
With my daughter, the first formula made her really gassy and she would cry in pain. The soy made her constipated. The Enfamil AR made her scream in pain. Enfamil Nutramigen is the only one that she can tolerate. Unfortunately she still has very bad reflux. She spits up several times after her bottle even 3 or 4 hours after she ate. We went through the same thing with our first child. I hope your baby is better with this formula.

I was thinking of trying this too. But Im so afraid it will be another failed formula and I cant take much more of the crying.

Re: For those of you with babies on Nutramigen formula...
Sorry to hear Kathy.. i totally feel your pain. I am just now starting to enjoy my son at 5 months old. Jacob is on nutramigen and it is the only formula he can tolerate. I went thru about 4/5 different ones. I honestly cant say it made a whole helluva difference, he just had very very bad gas and mild reflux. The gas subsided around 3/4 months but still i have nights where he is up screaming in pain from it. I noticed a slight improvement in crying with nutramigen but overall i think it was the gas that he just needed to grow out of. Sorry if i'm no help.. good luck! hang in there, sleep deprivation can hurt physically, and emotionally. Hugs to you!

Re: For those of you with babies on Nutramigen formula...
I kow how hard it is to ghave a gassy fussy baby. He is stil on Nutramigen now at almost 9 months. I am too scared to switch to any other formula. I did see an improvement but it was gradual. It could have been the formula or just time that helped him get better. Good luck and in time things will get better.
Antonio was very fussy, colicky and gassy and now he is so easy going.

Hi!
I had bella on the nutramigen for a few weeks and hated it. She still spit up a ton and it smelled gross. I switched her to the enfamil gentleese and have had such great success with it! It is so much cheaper too than the nutramigen.
good luck!

Emma is currently on Nutramigen because of a milk allergy. Try going thru your insurance co to pay for the formula. It saved us a ton of $$$$.
She had horrible gas pain, and would cry hysterical at every feeding. It helped so much!

Only a couple of days now, we just switched. How long do you think it will take before we start to see some improvement?

Re: For those of you with babies on Nutramigen formula...
Both my kids were on Nutramigen or Alimentum and it did make a huge difference. Neither of them ultimately had an allergy but for the first few months, it was like night & day after switching them over. Especially with my son, he was so miserable on any of the other formulas that the only thing that worked was Alimentum. WIth my daughter, I didnt even bother with anything other than going right from regular formula to Nutramigen. They are essentially the same thing except different brands. I chose Nutramigen for her b/c it seems like Enfamil sends out alot more coupons that Similac does, which is always nice when you are paying that much for formula.

I know the other is $$$$$$$$ but if it helps it is probably worth the cost. Your insurance may also cover it.

Im so glad you told me they are the same formula - because I have a lot of Similac coupons and I was afraid I was going to lose them and not be able to use them!

Re: For those of you with babies on Nutramigen formula...
Hi Kathy,
My son is now on Neocate due to his gas/colic/milk allergy. Nutramigen and Alimentum did nothing for him. However, give the Nutramigen a good week. If you don't see an improvement go back to your ped and ask them to test Katie's poop - bring several dirty diapers so they can test each for microscopic blood. If it is negative some things you can do to help are: 2 ounces of cammomile tea a day to help her tummy and you can ask for a prescription for Levsin drops. The drops are like mylicon but MUCH stronger.
You can always go to a gastro too - its up to you.
If you have any questions let me know - I'd be more than happy to help as I TOTALLY understand what you're going through right now.

Give it some time. If it doesn't get better soon, I'd speak with your ped again.
