For those that go to a single doctor OB practice
I am going to switch from a larger practice to a single or 2-3 person practice. How does it work when the doctor works solo. I know they have office hours, but are your appointments sometimes cancelled if he is in a delivery? Wasn't sure how this was handled.

it neevr happened to me but i would guess they would call you...and I would understnad since I would expect it if that was me in labor!

i have a single doctor- he sees you for all the appointments- not the nurses-
ive only had 1 appt cancelled of probably over 10

I went to a solo Dr practice, he never missed one appt, but have heard that when someone goes into labor he will run, and the nurses will reschedule or see you depending on what needed to be done, but to me, I liked that, knowing that he will be there for you!!!
I went into labor at night so we got lucky...LOL

I go to a solo doctor and in the past 12 years I have never had an appt. cancelled. There is a PA there all the time, I guess in case he has to leave.

My Ob has an independent practice and I have only been canceled once in the 4 years I have been with him.

I go to a solo practice and for this pregnancy I was cancelled on once and had to wait an hour once until he arrived after a delivery. I guess it also depends on how many OB patients the doctor has.

I have a solo Dr. but he does have a nurse practitioner that stands in for him while at the hospital. I have been going to him for years and only one time did the receptionist tell the ladies in the waiting room that he had to run to the hospital. If u like your doctor----I'd stick with him/her!
