For those that went into labor early ...

What were your symptoms? Did you know or did dr. tell you? Did you "feel" like you were going to go early? Thanks!

My best friend is actually in the hospital now...Shes 33 weeks and is in preterm labor....She was having what she thought were really bad gas pains so she called the doctor....she went in for an exam and the doctor told her they were contractions and she was 80% effaced and 1 cm dilated.....they have her on bedrest in the hospital and giving her medication to stop the contractions....they want the baby in there at least 2 more weeks!!!

I had alot of bleeding, and cramping. I just knew. I went into L&D and they hooked me up to the monitors and I was contracting every minute! They gave me a shot of terbutaline, and gave me a prescription for pills to take 4 times a day.

Thanks! Im having a lot of contractions (constantly) but not bleeding or anything else. Im on modifyed bedrest now. Just wondering what other symptoms to look out for and if this could keep up w/o going into preterm labor. thanks!

I went in at 34 weeks for my usual check up and wound up in terror.. I was in labor and had no clue. they sent me home after begging them to do so with medication. I was on the medication until I gave birth at 38 weeks. she held in 4 weeks after that At 38 weeks I really didn't know I was in labor either...

I can't remember it was 4 years ago with DD#1. Whatever it was I was scared to take and only took the minimal, sometimes skipped dosages. I went on bed rest, worked from home and did very little. The day I did a lot is the day she wanted to come

See I'm at 33 weeks as well and just came off of bed rest.. was on it for 2 weeks due to back injury. Ever since I've been up and around again i'm feeling extreme pressure, gas pains, some discharge, I have the doctor on Thursday I hope that I make it till then feeling this way.. could any of this be signs of preterm labor

I started to have regular contractions, which weren't painful, but felt a lot of pressure in my vjayjay, I called Dr went to L & D, they have me a shot of Terbutaline, I was a fingertip dialted, that was on Dec 6. The same thing happened again a month later, but this time the contractions were a little painful, back to L & D another shot of Terbutaline and I am now 2cm dilated and 50% effaced, I am now on oral Terbutaline every 6 hours, we did try halfing the dosage as they make me jittery, but I started contracting regularly again. I have been on the tablets almost a month and feel OK now. I am now 34 weeks and will stop the tablets the day after my 40th birthday when I will be 37 weeks. I am still having quite painful contractions, but they are not regular. I am on "modifed" rest. I hope this helps. If you are at all worried I would voice your concerns to your OB.

Thanks! Im just wondering if thats next. They have been checking me very frequently at the dr. for that though.

I didn't have a clue. I went for a regular apt and mentioned that I was feeling tightening like it was no big deal. They put me on the monitor and saw I was contracting every 10 minutes. They sent me to the hospital for fluids and a shot (I was 34.5 weeks). They gave me IV and the shot (sorry, I forget all the names, it was 2.5 yrs ago) and apparently it didn't work. I ended up in the hospital for 9 days. They wanted to get me to 36 weeks b/c if I had the baby then, it would have been fine. At 36 weeks they sent me home and put me on bedrest. I held out until 39 weeks.

Wanted to add: I was 98%effaced and 1 cm dialated from the time I went home and got 1 more cm dialted each week. At my apt at 39 weeks she saw I was 100%effaced and 3 cm dialted (which I didn't feel) and told me to go have my baby .

My contractions felt like heart "flutters." I also was very hungry. I went to the bathroom several times too the morning that I went into hard labor. The day or two before I had a tremendous amount of pressure on my cervix and had AF-like cramps that also turned into back cramps.
