The State Department has set up a hotline to call for those trying to locate family members in Haiti who are American Citizens. That # is 1-888-407-4747 (calling from outside the US: 202-501-4444). Please note that due to the heavy call volume, some callers may hear a recorded message. Keep trying to call until you are in the pipeline to speak with someone.

The US Embassy in Port au Prince is updating its website regularly.

For those that wish to help in the relief effort, please visit the website of the Center for International Disaster Information.

The Red Cross has also set up a cell phone texting option for donations. Information on that program may be accessed through their website.

Liz this is really helpful, thank you! My friend's son departed Haiti on one of the last flights before the earthquake; he was doing a college trip helping set up a school there. He's worried sick about his new friends there, I'll pass this info on to him!!!
