? for those who delivered at Winthrop
I had the routine audiology screening done when Roman was born and keep receiving a bill for a few hundred dollars. I contacted my insurance and they said they'd take care of it. I just got another bill showing what my insurance covered and supposedly I still owe them over $150.00 bucks
Did anyone else get this, it's not like he had any special tests done.

Re: ? for those who delivered at Winthrop
I didn't receive any bill except for the $100 that my insurance made me pay for the hospital stay and the extra money that I paid for the private room.

Re: ? for those who delivered at Winthrop
We owed $273 after insurance covered their part I paid it
A few weeks ago, we got a statement from our insurance saying they did pay the $273. Now I have to call this place in NJ and get my money back. I would hold out on paying them and see what happens. Lauren was born in early May!!!

yup, I got that bill. I don't remember how much extra I had to pay.
Insurance paid some, and then they billed me the rest. I was hoping they'd just be happy with the insurance portion.

Re: ? for those who delivered at Winthrop
I am having this problem too with the company in NJ. They have sent me a bill for $700 for both boys and I keep calling them and no one calls me back. And they have not submitted a claim to my insurance carrier so i don't know what is going on.

Yep. We got billed for $700, then called them with the insurance info. The y got paid for one child in full and partially for our other baby (no one knows why this happened). We sent them the nsurance checks and asked them to appeal to our insurance for the rest.

Re: ? for those who delivered at Winthrop
How did everyone know to fight these bills? Am I stupid b/c I just pay the bills that I get. I call my insurance company but somehow they always tell me that I owe the $ - sounds like some of you fought them and won?

If something doesn't seem right always fight them first, you've got nothing to lose. I think these ins. co. are no better than scam artisits personally they way they deny claims left and right and leave you to pay for it. They don't like to pay for anything until you bring their attention to it. It's a huge headache to fight them but so far I've gotten good results.
ETA: The audiology place went ahead and sent an appeal to my ins. co. automatically and they eventually paid in full.

Definitely! The same thing happened with our hearing screening and they ended up paying for it

Re: ? for those who delivered at Winthrop
The routine hearing exam is suppossed to be charged as part of the well baby care billed in the hospital, not billed seperatly.
I work for EMPIRE BCBS , w eodnt pay seperatley for it. We tell the members to call the billing dept and tell them this test is covered as part of the well child mandate and included in the price our insurance pays you for the well baby check up..why am I being billed seperatley for it.
Usually they then eat the cost.
Hope that helps.

Thank you. Oxford was putting it through Roman's insurance card, I think that was part of the problem. Good to see I'm not the only one.

Re: ? for those who delivered at Winthrop
empire bcbs denied my claim because the screening was done by someone out of network. I got a bill for $350. I called the lab and they filed an appeal for me stating that the screening in NYS mandated, they are the only ones in the hospital that provide the service and that I had no choice in the matter. The girl was really nice. She said this happens ALL the time. I think it's horrible for the women who just pay this bill because they don't know enough to question it.
Definitely call the lab!

i just had to pay my co-pay. I would call your insurance company again to check if they cover that particular test, they might not.
