??? For Those Who Had Ultrascreen at NSUH
Mine is on 10/13 and I'm very anxious. Dr. Bergman is my high risk doc, but they don't do it in his office. I'll be sending in the blood sample this week so Ill be bale to get the results the same day as the ultra sound. I was hoping some of you wouldn't mind sharing your experiences.
Just wondering... -Did an actuall doctor (radiologist) perform the u/s or was it just a tech?
-Did they give you information as they were performing the u/s or make you suffer though till the end?
-How long does it take?
-Who gave you the results? A tech or one of their high risk doctors?
-Did they offer their opinions of what they thought the gender may be?
Thanks!!!

A tech does the majority of the sono and then a perinatologist comes in at the end to confirm measurements, etc.
-Did they give you information as they were performing the u/s or make you suffer though till the end?
I just asked how everything looked as they went along. Both the sono tech and the perinatologist said that everything looked good. Also, my doc said if they see a problem they would call his office right away so I knew if they said something like we need to call your doc there was an issue.
-How long does it take? About 30mins.
-Who gave you the results?
A tech or one of their high risk doctors? See above answer.
-Did they offer their opinions of what they thought the gender may be?
The tech did not but the doc did. I said I didn't want to know as DH couldn't make it to that sono.

I had pretty much the same experience, except my tech was horrible, she took really bad photos and didn't speak to us much at all. for my level II our tech was 100% better I "think" her name was Michelle or Diane but so much nicer.
I'm also a patient of Dr. B

Re: ??? For Those Who Had Ultrascreen at NSUH
Tech, then dr does it.
The tech didn't say much, and I tried not to ask much b/c she wasn't the talkative type. But I do believe she was very good so I didn't want to interrupt her. They won't tell you much until it's all said and done. It took about 20 mins I would say. I didn't ask about the sex and I am SURE the tech wouldn't have even ventured a guess. The way I see it is, we are there to get more imp things checked (neck measurement, etc) so I didn't bother to ask but I am sure the tech would have said NO, it's too soon. They really should not be guessing then, it's just not accurate enough anyway. They gave us 4 photos, make sure you tell them you want a few pics.
Afterwards, the doctor will come do it to confirm what the tech got. Then they tell you to come into another room where they will calculate the blood work you previously sent in, with the measurements from that day.
I had to remind them I already sent the BW in, they didn't realize it was there. THen you get your results and you sit down with a dr who will quickly tell you how your results came out. You will get a copy. My suggestion is bring a copy to your dr with you when you go on your next appt (I made my dr appt the next day in case i needed to discuss anything imp, I didn't want to wait) b/c odds are they didn't get the results to your dr yet and you probably want to discuss it.

a tech did the sono, then after a doctor comes in to talk to you
-Did they give you information as they were performing the u/s or make you suffer though till the end?
they concentrate on doing measurements, but you can ask questions. I was told everything looked good by the tech and then the doc.
-How long does it take?
15-20 min depending if baby is cooperating
-Who gave you the results? A tech or one of their high risk doctors?
both tech and doc told me looks good
-Did they offer their opinions of what they thought the gender may be?
She told me 98% boy and she was right! depends on the tech though.
Thanks!!!

Wow - thanks for the info. It seems like everyone had such different expreiences as far as the tech goes. I hope I get someone good AND get a 3d sono. My appt. is at 7:30a.m. so I odn't know if that will make the difference.

You mean get a 3D sono at NSUH? I know they have that capability, but I don't know anyone who they did this for. Maybe only if they are having a hard time seeing something?
Either way, let us know how it goes.GL!

Re: ??? For Those Who Had Ultrascreen at NSUH
Oh, I had read on another similar thread that someone got lucky and got a 3D during the ultrascreen. You would think 3D would be automatic considering that they are trying to get all these accurate measurments. So, do you ever get a 3D sono?

No, I believe at NSUH they generally don't use that feature unless they NEED to see something they can't see on a regular ultrasound.

Re: ??? For Those Who Had Ultrascreen at NSUH
oh I also got a 3D pic kind of scary though and I think you are better off w/ the earliest appointment bc they have more time. Mine was the first appt. that was the only time I rec'd a 3d pic, they never did it again after that
