For those who repainted their kitchen cabinets in white
What finish did you use? Semigloss, gloss, etc.?
TIA

I got something (Benjamin Moore) that our painter promised would adhere to any surface (years of built up grease). I think it's a semi gloss.
Scrubbed with ammonia, sanded, then ammonia again. Two coats of primer and two coats of paint and they look good.

The lowest finish I would do is semi-gloss. You want to be able to clean the cabinets easily and I think it will look better.

Re: For those who repainted their kitchen cabinets in white
Did you all sand them first? Did you take them off the hinges and then replace them? About to embark on this but my cabinets are so old and crummy I'm nervous it'll be like lipstick on a pig!
Anyone have pics they can share?

I am going to take the doors/drawers out. Sand lightly and paint.

I tried, but not sure how to post from FB? We took everything off hinges. It was a huge undertaking (we have a very large kitchen w/ 40 cabinets). Sanded, ammonia, sanded again, painted w/ semi-gloss.

Any grocery store, drug store, Target, Walmart. It's a huge jug of yellow liquid for like $2. It smells STRONG--I think we mixed with half water.
