For those who used OPK's.....
Boy or girl? (if you know)
I was down in FL this week and talking with my SIL's MIL. She said that there seems to be a big increase in BOY babies among women that have used OPK's. (My SIL was fanatical with peeing on the ovulation sticks, temping, etc.) and is having a boy. Her MIL said that there is a certain point in the ovulation period where the OPK's pick it up and at that point you are more likely to have a boy. (I have also heard this--- something like earlier in the ovulation period it's a girl, for example).
Just curious to know--- those of you that used OPK's to help conceive...what are you having?
Totally just curious.... I didn't use OPK's and was about to start and then I got a BFP. I am also team green, so who knows!
I am thinking it is going to be an even split... but let's see!

there is some truth to this (from what i have read).
sperm with the Y chromosome are believed to be faster than sperm with the X chromosome - but X sperm live longer than Y sperm.
so if you have sex a few days before you O, technically you are more likely to have a girl (takes the X sperm longer to get there but once there, they are more likely to stick around as the Y sperm die off).
but if you have sex the day before or the day of O, you are more likely to have a boy.
so women who use OPKs are more likely to have sex right around the time they O - leading more of them to have boy babies.
i don't know how true it really is, or how make studies have been done to support this, but i used an OPK the month i got pregnant and i had a boy.

my sister had 3 girls and wanted to try for boy. she used the shettles method and opks and got her boy.
I also heard higher chance of boy with iui's bc of the timing.

I didn't use OPKs but I charted. Looking back I can see that the only time we BD near ovulation was three days before ovulation the month that we conceived. I had heard this also, that if you BD a few days before ovulation you were more likely to have a girl (We didn't time our BD for any specific gender, it just worked out that way I got really sick with a cold right around ovulation and couldn't do it immediately before). Once my cycle was done and I found out we were pregnant I was really curious if it held true, for us it did, but I have no idea the percentage of time that it actually does.

My best friend not only used OPK's, she had her DH's sperm injected into her on the O day, and she had a girl!

I have read this, too. It makes perfect sense to me. It was on a site that suggested timing BD this way to up your chances of having a boy or girl. I am sure it's way less than 100% effective so there will be exceptions, but it seems logical.
