For those who wear glasses for reading or working on the computer...

I think I might need glasses. I have GREAT vision for seeing things close up and far away, but I think I need it for reading and working on the computer. Maybe some of you who wear them can help me.

The reason I think this is because about a month ago, I started feeling dizzy. And after a month of observing when I feel dizzy - I realize it is when I am at work on the computer. Maybe I am allergic to work?! ha!

Take this weekend for example. I felt fine all weekend - no dizzyness, no straining feeling in my eyes - then today, I get to work and all morning, I have felt dizzy and some pressure around my eyes.

Then, I left the office to go to lunch - totally fine - no dizzyness at all. I get back, and I am here 10 minutes, my eyes feel strained and I feel dizzy.

Does this sound like I might need reading glasses??!? I made an appointment for Saturday with an eye doctor.

Thanks!

me too - at first I only needed glasses for the computer at work (long periods of time), and I used to leave them at work, then it was reading on the train too...now its for almost everything up close

My sister has the same issue. She has perfect vision, except when at the computer. She got glasses, and they have a special tint on them to help control the glare.

Yup! Me too! I have an anti glare thingy for driving at night too cause the lights really distort my vision.

Headaches were my first sign

I do also have headaches - nothing terrible - but I guess that is what I meant when I said the pressure in my eyes....

I think that I need glasses.

Thanks for your input!

Re: For those who wear glasses for reading or working on the computer...

Check your "refresh rate" on your monitor first. Here's how I find mine:

Start--Settings--Control Panel--Display

Settings Tab--Advanced button--Monitor tab

Look for something that says "screen refresh rate" or just "refresh rate". It should be the highest number it can go. Mine is at 100 hertz. If it reverts back to anything lower for any reason, I notice it right away.

I didn't start wearing glasses until I was 24, when I started working with computers as a job. Once I started wearing them at work, I realized that they helped a lot with daily vision too. Especially while driving.

Good luck, hope this helps! Chat Icon
