For those with a staircase that has the main post being turned(no flat sides at all) what type of baby gate do you have?

For those with a staircase that has the main post being turned(no flat sides at all) what type of baby gate do you have?
I bought one but when I brought it home my DH said we can't use it because their is no flat part to screw it into on the main post. Now I think you can use it and DH just doesnt want to put a whole in the wall or post.

You can use one of these to go around the post without making a hole...

I have this one-First Years Hand's free gate by learning curve
I have it at the bottom of my stairs with one side against the wall and the other against the rounded post, no mounting necessary and this thing hasn't budged at all, plus it's soo easy to open and go up and down the stairs without having to take it down.

we got a piece a wood and attached the gate to it instead of the post.
