For those with Colicky babies.....
When feeding Christopher it is a NIGHTMARE sometimes. He moves around and fusses so much it can be frustrating. He is such a wiggle worm Does your baby do that??

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
Well Matthew was not a colicky baby but he does have gas issues so sometimes he can act all fussy at a feeding.
I give him Mylicon Drops...

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
Is he arching his back? That was a symptom for our ped to diagnose acid reflux which they simply put DS on zantac.
Before that, DS was fussy and wiggly while I was bf him and that was due to milk protein allergy. He is now on Nutramigen and no more problems.

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
Honestly, have you spoken to your Dr. about reflux or an allergy or sensitivity to something in the formula? That sounds like Ava did before we knew she had reflux and a milk allergy.

Sometime Parker does this in the morning as well. It's not all the time so I never thought it was acid reflux. Could it be?

well, he is on the Nutramigen and was doing fine, not as fussy, but still can be from time to time....he is taking Zantac, but i stopped because I didnt think it was reflux because he wasnt spitting up. Yes, he arches his back. I started giving him the Zantac again.

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
yes especially at his 9 o'clock feeding because that would fall between his "witching hour". I tried not to feed him during that time. He would cry everynight between 9-11.

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
Nikolas is colicy and sometimes during feedings he does this as well.. he thrashes around SO much that he'll choke on his bottle and it'll spill all over him.. (he moves and wiggles around a lot ALL the time , though..not just during feedings) Sometimes when he's really at the peak of his witching hours a feeding can take sooooo long
just this week he was diagnosed with a "minor" case of acid reflux (minor because he doesn't spit up a LOT, and is a pretty good eater and is gainin weight.. but he does arch his back during feedings someties and also sticks out his tongue and makes faces when the acid backs up his throat into his mouth..)
we are starting him on zantac so we'll see if there is any improvement

just b/c he is not spitting up doenst mean he doesnt have acid reflux. he could have silent reflux. hannah has this and the poor thing was so miserable until she was on meds. however, she learned to associate certain behaviors with meal time. we are trying hard to break her of them. my advice would be to keep him on the zantac and visit with a pediatirc gastro.
etd to say that hannah was a very colicky baby, and continues to be a high needs baby. but i love her all the same

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
Reese didn't spit up but it would sit in her throat..she had reflux. Also maybe your son doesn't like the formula. I switched Reese formula because the Doc wanted her to gain more weight and she hated the formula she use to take a few sips and then squirm..So i swithed it back and she was fine...good luck.

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
DD was/is on Nutramigen... Feeding her was an absolute nightmare for the first 2 - 3 months of her life. It took us a while to get her formula right, but I also gave her Mylicon religiously. Even though the Nutramigen helped (she has a milk allergy) - I still felt like she was gassy all of the time. Everntually she grew out of it, and feeding became more of a bonding experience.

Re: For those with Colicky babies.....
Katie did that too - it was def related to her a/r and colicky-ness. Have you talked to your ped about possibly being a/r? Zantac helped Katie a lot.

Yup he could still have reflux/burning without actually spitting up. My ped told me we were "covered" in terms of having him on nutramigen, zantac and using Dr. Browns bottles for colicky/fussy behavior. She said around 12 weeks he'd probably just grow out of it as his system matures, and it seems to be true (he is only 12 weeks yesterday but is soooooooooo much better now)
