For us BTDT moms - what did your contrax feel like....POLL inside
I have a seen a few posts the last few days asking what contractions felt like.....and most women tend to equate the with bad cramps.....prior to labor. After they are in labor its usually a very different take on the pain.
For me, I know I asked too and assumed it would be like AF cramping but more severe. God no! It felt like someone was ripping my hips apart and trying to pull my spine out through my @ss. I had all back labor though. It was worse than I couldve have fathomed. I was just curious how your pre-labor notions actually jived with your reall labor experience.

I dont remember the actual pain either....people were right you do forget. I just remember explaining it to people in the days following like I so colorfully explained above.

I dont remember the actual pain either....people were right you do forget. I just remember explaining it to people in the days following like I so colorfully explained above.

the early cramps felt like bad AF cramping...
but by the time they were 2-3 min apart, they were very strong, made my belly ROCK hard, and were no longer restricted to the low pelvis area....
Very bad.... and it stayed that way for well over 30 hours

total back labor... every thirty seconds, I thought someone was stabbing me in my spine.. while DH slept like a baby... I thought I was going to kill him

I wasnt sure how to answer because I would describe early contractions and late contractions very differently.
Early contractions--like a twisting in my lower belly. They went from really not bad at all, to just saying "ow, that kind of hurt". That's how it was when I left for the hospital. When I got to the hospital, they started getting worse, and I just wanted to lay down---they hurt much more standing or sitting (i went to the bathroom once and didn't want to go again because the contractions were much worse. My water broke about 30 minutes after getting to the hospital. (3am)
Late contractions--can't explain them, other than to say there is certainly no denying them or questioning what they are. I was just focused on trying to breathe through them..never stopped and thought about how I could describe them or what they felt like. The really bad, indescribable pains started at about 5 am, and DD was born at 7:44am

They felt like very bad bad AF cramps to me.
But I didn't dialate enough to feel the "transiiton" (only got to 6 cm) so I'm sure they'd be a lot more painful during that time.
I also had back labor and that was one big, long, constant AF cramp in the back.

Mine were like constipation/have to go to the bathroom but I can't pains. 20-minutes before I gave birth it was more than that though

They started out like normal AF cramps & then turned into severe AF cramps. With DS, I also had back labor so it was severe AF cramps + a severe backache.

It went from severe AF cramps to burning, razor sharp pain where I was sure I could rip people's heads off with my bare hands. Luckily the nurses are trained for that sort of thing.

Not going to lie... i had it real easy. Either that or maybe my body is good at managing pain. Who the h*ll knows.
They felt like AF cramps, even when they were 2 minutes apart. It wasn't until i got to about 8 cm dilated that they felt like severe AF cramps.
I definitely remember thinking... wow that wasn't that bad.  (please don't hate me)

low ccramping that were not even as bad as my regular AF cramps. I didn't know i was in labor, by the time I went to the hospital I was already 4.5 CMS once I got to 7 cms, it was a whole different story!

I had back labor too, stabbing in the spine is a good way to describe it, they got so bad I couldn't stand up straight or walk

Same here. Towards the end I could barely speak. I was never so happy to see someone stick me in my spine with a needle.

Great description!!! It hurt enough for me to tell DH that I changed my mind, and I want to go home. When he told me we couldn't, I told him, really it's ok, I'll just keep it in, and go home. Then they convinced me to get the epi.

That is so funny, yes, I remember this too. After 9 months and finally strapped to a fetal monitor, I decided I didn't want to give birth.

Before the dr broke my water it felt to me like severe AF cramps (just a little different) BUT after the water was broken, OMG it was beyond words... thats when I called for an epi!

I picked "words cannot explain".
I was in soo much pain at one point that I was delirious. I kept thinking to myself that if this pain continues, I will just unzip myself and climb out of my body! How weird is that!
