Thank you! I got everything but the coffee table at ethan allen. I actually copied something that i saw at raymore & flannigan but was too big for my space.
The coffee table i got at Rum Runner in E. Hampton.

Here are the peices that i copied from R&F:

Also - that was exactly the look i was going for - something formal but something that also looked comfortable enough that we would use. I dont want a living room that goes unused.

Sorry I am totally hijacking your thread - but here is another picture that i saved of a model home in Woodbury (the new townhouses called The Preserve). I just came across it while posting these pics and thought you might like it - it is a combined LR/DR space...

Re: Formal Living Rooms
Great pics! Red is my favorite color! I actually went to EA over the weekend to look at bedroom stuff. I'll have to go back and check out the upholstery!
Do they ever have sales?

I have never seen them have a good sale... They have an outlet sale once a year. I went last year and almost everything was purchased by the time i got there, which was about an hour after it started. We got our bedroom set from EA also. I can post pictures when I get to work tomorrow if you want!

Re: Formal Living Rooms
Here is my formal living room from last Christmas - we have added hw floors since and stained the window moldings and a few other little things.
My dining room is Thomasville martinque (we had bought before we even had a house and living room) so we bought the formal living room furniture from that same collection. It is one of the few that has a matching living room collection. The couches and chairs are Ethan Allen.
Don't mind the presents and gate around the tree..if was the might before Santa came...

Re: Formal Living Rooms
Niecey - my set is also Thomasville and I also have a very similar wall unit. I have no idea what collection it is from because it is at least 15 years old!
I know it is expensive to re-upholster stuff, but anyone know where I can reupholster these 2 blue chairs? I think I am going to put them on both sides of the buffet along a wall.

Re: Formal Living Rooms
you can reupholster the chairs yourself, it is not hard at all.
You need to unscrew the seat and the Chair back and just pull the new fabric taught over the existiing Fabric (or foam if you remove the old fabric). Then staple it with an iindustrial grade stapler.
My mom did it to our dining room chairs several times.
ETA - I am not sure what you do about the arms though...
One more thing....i dont think getting those chiars professionaly reupolstered would cost as much as a couch or club chair b/c there is no sewing involved.

Thanks - I think I could definitely do the dining room chairs, but I don't think I can do those blue chairs. They have piping on them, and know I would be not able to replicate it. Also the chair backs do not screw off, so I am not even sure how I would take them off!

My mom tried to make the piping once....it came out well but it was a pain in the butt to do and she was a great sewer. I don't think it would cost more than a couple hundred dollars to get both done....
