Formula - powder vs pre-mixed
I recently switched DD to formula during the day. I heard that there is a taste difference between the powder and the pre-mixed and that you should really stick with one or the other. Is that true??

not sure about a taste difference but I was told the ready to feed is easier to digest (less gas). That is what I used

Yes. Very different taste. I would stick with the RTF b/c I found it to be less gassy. But you can go back and forth, no reason you can't, if hte child will take it.

Re: Formula - powder vs pre-mixed
My son took anything - RTF/powder/BM. Its really a personal preference. From a nutritional standpoint, they are both almost 100% the same. RTF has different lipids for fat than the powder.
I used RTF Enfami nursettes at night (or 8oz cans when LO was older) and powder when I was out all day.
Either way..they are both fine.

Re: Formula - powder vs pre-mixed
We use the RTF Similac Advanced w/ Iron. DS is 3 months. When she was 1 month old we tried to switch her to powder (b/c it is less expensive) but she was VERY gassy and refused to eat it. Sounds gross but my mom and I tasted both the powder and RTF to see if it had a diff. taste. They were both gross but the RTF was much better. We went back to the RTF and DS is very happy. The doctor said that it should not make a diff. if you use both powder or RTF so that should help. GL.

RTF makes DS spit up like a crazy person!! Powder makes him spit up normally but with RTF it's insane and gross. I guess it just depends.

Re: Formula - powder vs pre-mixed
I use both. I buy powder (its a little cheaper) and our peds. office usually gives us RTF samples, so, I'll use that when we are out and about. She tolerates both pretty well.

Re: Formula - powder vs pre-mixed
It depends on the child.
My DD gets both. She gets the RTF at daycare and powder at home. She doesn't prefer one over the other.

Re: Formula - powder vs pre-mixed
My ped told us to use RTF because it is thicker and easier on their stomachs.
