formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
i use the powder and premake the bottles and put them in the fridge then come downstairs to the kitchen and reheat as i need them. i'm wondering if it would be easier to keep the water premeasured in the bottle and the powder premeasured upstairs in the nursery then just mix and feed when DD wakes up. what do you ladies do?

I did it the first way with my first kid and we switched to the second way with my second kid.
Just easier for us.

We kept the bottles with water in the nursery and added the powder as needed when DS was on powder formula. It was great in the middle of the night.

I just add the amt of water in bottle and then added the powder in.
I still keep them downstairs in my kitchen.
The easiest would be if they didnt wake up for that feeding!

i premake the bottles with the water in it.. and premake the powder in one of those containers they sell at BRU. so i just pour it in shake, done! but i dont warm the bottles, i use room temp. so i leave everything in the nursery

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
in the past (until last week) When I would hear him crying, id go into the kitchen and pour brita water (room temp) into the bottle, add the powder and shake - go into his room and change him, then feed him.
since we are now using RTF, I have bottles pre-made in the fridge. I grab a bottle and put it in the warmer. Go in his room and change him then go grab the bottle and come back and feed. Its done warming as soon as I'm done changing him

I make the bottles up ahead of time and leave them in the fridge. I (or more often DH) come down and get a bottle if one of the boys get up during the night. They drink them cold.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I bring the powder already measured out and put in one of the dispensing holders. I have the water measured in the bottles already.
I just mix when she wants a bottle, takes 10 seconds. No heating and no walking up and down the stairs at 2 am.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I use RTF, but when I run out and use powder I make a container of it (32 oz) at a time in a Dr. Brown's pitcher. I make the bottles before I got o bed so if she wakes up, I just go downstairs and grab one. She drinks it cold.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I used rtf 8 oz cans to fill a bottle. Could not be easier!
I know Enfamil and Good Start have them, not sure who else.

We pre-make and then warm it up. our kitchen is on the same floor as the bedroom so it's easy in that sense.

I still nurse at night but with DD we premade the bottles and gave it to her cold. She was always too impatient to wait for it to be warmed up.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I use the RTF 8oz nursettes. I have them in her room along with nipples. no warming, measuring, or walking to the kitchen. just ready to go!
yes, it is wasteful and $$ but so worth it for the convenience of not haing to deal with the baby gate, trekking downstairs and making a bottle!

we did this too from time to time if he was really screaming. i used those for the diaper bag but would break them out at 3am if needed!

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I use room temp bottled water pre-measured in the bottle with gas drops and just drop in the powder when I hear him waking up. I'd love to have time to heat up the bottle but I fear he'd cry and wake up DH and Jack which would NOT be a good thing.
ps Ryan is in a bassinet right next to my bed so I hear him stirring before he ever gets to a full out cry

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
we put a cheap mini-fridge upstairs and had the bottle warmer in the bathroom. No going up and down and we even kept the water in the warmer already so it was all set.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
i have one of those powder separators and would fill up the sections and would leave that and the bottle filled with the water on his changing table. All i had to do was open bottle and mix, it was already room temp

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I keep premeasuerd bottles in the my room with the formula measured out in a formula container. When I hear him stirring to wake to eat, I make the bottle as I'm getting out of bed.
When he wakes to eat, he generally wakes screaming, and IMO just takes too long to warm the bottle while he screams. I also don't want to take the risk of his screams to wake my DD.

SAME. The dispenser is the best thing ever. I use it in my house for the day time as well.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I live in a ranch house, so the kitchen is on the same floor as the bedrooms. Even so, I started leaving bottles with the power inside and all of the pieces assembled. When DD woke up, I poured the water in and mixed it all up.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
I premeasure the water in the bottle and the powder in these little containers that came with the bottles. I keep them on my nightstand as DD sleeps in our room for now. She's used to room temp formula so I don't have to heat anything up as opposed to cold, prepared formula from the fridge. Easier and quicker for a crying baby.

Re: formula feeding moms - how do u do your night feedings?
well before the similac recall i was using powder and would premake them and warm them at night. i would love to just shake it up right then but it makes so many bubbles when i shake it and creates crazy gas for DS. i use the dr. brown's pitcher to mix without creating bubbles. now that i'm using the RTF i think i'm going to stick to it at night even if i switch to enfamil powder during the day cuz i think he is sleeping longer on the RTF then he did on the powder. really trying to drop a night feeding. plus the RTF is so much easier!
