Formula ? Gentlease related
My DD is on Enfamil Lipil. She seems to be fussy when trying to burp. She's extremely gassy and will spit up frequently during feedings. I got concerned because today, she seemed to spit up a lot more, almost like vomiting, at least an ounce. I felt so bad for her. I'm thinking about putting her on Enfamil Gentlease. I talked to my ped. and they were fine with switching her if I felt she wasn't agreeing with her formula. But, I'm still not sure what to do. (Obviously, this is my first child) I have a couple of questions : Those who have gassy or fussy babies, do you think I should switch? Should I do it gradually? (1/3 Gentlease, 2/3 Lipil? My ped. said to do it gradually, the Enfamil hotline said to do it cold turkey Can my DD develop an allergy to lactose b/c the Gentlease only has 1/4 of it? Sorry for the long post, I'm just getting frustrated b/c I don't know what to do and I don't want her to be uncomfortable.

Re: Formula ?
When we switched to Gentlease and I just switched at the next bottle, never did half and half or anything like that.
Why would you think DC would have a lactose allergy b/c Gentlease has less lactose? Most babies on Gentlease are on it b/c their bellies are sensitive and a little immature, once they get older, they have handle milk just fine.
ETA: Don't expect it to work immediately, it took about a week for DS to get used to Gentlease...

We switched to gentlease and what a difference. I don't think I would use anything else the next time. Now we use the Target brand of it and it works great but at $10 less a can.

DS was 8 weeks old and still screaming with gas pains. I called my ped and he told me to switch over.

Re: Formula ? Gentlease related
My DD was on Similac and spit up all the time... I switched her to Gentlease cold turkey.... but then I switched her to AR which really controlled the spitting up- I didn't even ask my doc about the switch from Gentlease to AR... I just did it on my own.
It took a week or so for her system to settle down.
Also- now DD is 10 months and never spits up, so they do grow out of it.

We switched from Simolac Advance to Nestle Good Start. We also changed bottles. She still had issues and actually had acid reflux. SHe is now on Zantac. She has her good days and bad days. When we switched formula we did it cold turkey.

Yeah, my DS doesn't and really didn't spit up, it was a gas issue with us, that is why we are using Gentlease.

Re: Formula ? Gentlease related
Steven was very fussy with gas before I switched. I switched and it helped immediately.
He is now transitioning to whole milk, and he handles it just fine.
