formula question- alimentum and pro total comfort
'm due with #2 soon and DD had to be on alimentum because having the proteins broken down in the formula worked better for her. it's VERY expensive, but was covered by insurance luckily. However, it was annoying to deal with insurance and going to the GI frequently throughout the year to get the prescription renewed.... bc of covid, i'd like to avoid going into too many offices aside from my pediatrician who won't prescribe alimentum. He refers to the GI and has them do it.
Anyway, has anyone had a similar experience and used similac pro total comfort? I am reading online it's similar to alimentum and is a regular formula price. The proteins are broken down in the formula like alimentum, but only partially (alimentum is fully broken down).
I am hoping this baby tolerates everything better, but I'm just trying to plan ahead so that I start on something a little more sensitive rather than going through the nightmare of trying 100 formulas again.

Congrats. This was 5 years ago but we also tried every formula with DD and the only one she could tolerate was alimentum. We also went through insurance but the ped prescribed it. You could try the total comfort and then move straight to the alimentum if it doesn’t work out? It’s a little strange the ped won’t prescribe it- maybe they’ll make a covid exception?

Honestly, I would wait and see if #2 even needs it. Start off with something like Gentlease and go from there. My pedi prescribed Alimentum for my daughter but my son didn't need it.

this is good to know! I just assume it's gonna be the same but I like hearing one of your kids was fine without alimentum... Im gonna start out with pro total comfort (which i think is the similac version of gentlease)
