Formula switch after Similac recall...
Is anyone else's DC having issues?
We switched DS to Up & Up the night of the recall & he screamed all night (I am thinking it was due to the fact that he was still screwed up from the Similac since he had diarrhea for a week) We also used the RTF Similac when we got desperate & he did better but was spitting up
Now our ped recommended doing Enfamil Gentlease which I did yesterday. DS refuses to drink that formula. He use to drink a bottle in 30 minutes, now after about 25, he has only taken 2.5oz.
I'm not sure if I should try the Up & Up brand again.

which similac were you using? Can you try Gerber Good Start? We loved it (until we realized DS has a milk protein sensitivity!)

Unfortunately we can't do the Good Start, DS is on the Similac Sensitive

We were going to go to whole milk but I tried out Enfamil Premium Lipil which is equivalent to Similac Advance and he has been doing great. We will be using this for the next 2 months.

Re: Formula switch after Similac recall...
I was just going to post this
I bought Good Start (I'm pretty sure I got the one that was most similar to Sim. Adv.)
She has been spitting up alot. Not fussing - just a happy spitter. But its annoying because she almost never spit up on her old formula.
I'm hoping she adjusts, but I'm also hoping I dont have to buy another can and that Advance goes back for sale soon!
I will not try another brand because I do not have money to just throw away on formula right now

Michelle, are you using the orange or green label?

Re: Formula switch after Similac recall...
From a ped. dietitian
Sim. Sensative actually has not equivalent out there b/c it is their lactose free product that was renamed sensative. No other company makes lactose free anymore. Gentlease is reduced lactose and the proteins are patially hydrolyzed (sim sensative is intact).
I often find that b/c of the sugar content in similac products - the formula is sweeter than enfamil (yes, I have sadly been forced to taste it), so some babies refuse for a few feedings when going from isomil, sensative and allimentum.
I would stick with it for a few days, and if not you can go to prosobee.
HTH!
