Formula that is closest to breastmilk or gave you the least problems?

I'm exclusively pumping milk for Jack. It is working perfect for us.. he is gaining like I'm giving him Miracle Grow. I'm able to leave him with his Dad with some pumped milk and a bottle and able to bring my pump with me in case I am out too long, plus the no constipation thing is a plus.

But I know eventually I might have to supplement or that I might fully switch to formula. Currently at 5 weeks he is eating about 35 oz of breastmilk a day.

I have tons of formula coupons and my friends have told me that I should start stocking up and picking up my free can each month just in case I need it or want to stop breastfeeding at some point.

The evil PP nurse at the hospital whom is part of the reason I am pumping and not breastfeeding per see gave him Enfimal with Iron I believe and it didn't seem to go over to well (see ignore the note saying he was a BF baby)

I'm thinking I might try using thr GoodStart coupons but I was just wondering if you could share what formula you have having the least problems with and if you are using Good Start which type?

TIA! I hope my question makes sense ... Jack is sleeping in his Snugli on me and making it hard to type!

I breastfeed and use formula. When I first came home from the hospital I had to supplement w/ formula because Aidan was jaundice. They used similac w/ iron, he took it but not that well. Then he started with reflux and the dr told me to switch to Alimentum...he didn't like that too much either. Now I have him on Isomil Soy formula by Similiac and he downs it like it was breastmilk.

Everybaby is different...you have to find what works for him. My dr said that everytime you change formula you have to stick with it at least 3-5 days to see the true reaction.

Hope this helps.

my ped told me that Enfamil LIPL with Iron is the closest to breast milk....but I would call your baby's ped...because they will recommend what is best for your baby...based on nutrional needs

I breastfed in the beginning but had to stop due to medical reasons and I started with Similac Advance but she developed reflux so we put her on Isomil soy and she's done great on that.
We actually tried switching back to regular Similac 2 months ago since her reflux has stopped and she vomited terribly for hours so we assume she has a milk allergy for nowChat Icon

Nestle Good Start was the best for us after weaning.

No gas, no odor, and has proteins that are very close to BM.

Which Good Start? the regular milk with comfort proteins or the one with the ADAH or whatever letters it is...

I have heard that Good Start is good for breastfeeders plus they give the best coupons!

I have one expiring real soon so I want to use it and get my 11 bucks worth

I used the Nestle Good Start Supreme with DHA and ARA (the orange and gold can)

Good Start Supreme

They do offer nice coupons, but like everyone else once they see you are using the product and cashing the checks, they stop. Its great to pair up with another mom who is using another formula like Similac so you can trade. Because your mailbox will be filled with Similac and hers with Good Start! Chat Icon Chat Icon

II gave him 2 oz's and now he is out like a light sleeping in his bouncer.

I don't mind pumping but with getting AF back and my husband's deployment I know my production will probably drop due to stress as well as me being a *Single* parent since he will be away might make pumping so much or for so long tough.

For those that supplemented.

What happened to their poops?

Will he most likely sleep longer after the one bottle of formula? For example is it better to give it to him as his final bottle of the night?

He is still going to get alot of breastmilk. He currently at 5 weeks has been taking 35 oz of pumped milk a day.
