Um...I just took my wedding enlargements to Michael's framing dept today. Granted two of them are fairly large (16x20 and 20x24), but for three photos the total came to $617 and that was with a discount!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ouch! that sounds VERY high! esp for Michaels. try AC Moore, they might be lower. professional framing is SO expensive!

Re: Framing

I know... I can't find anything reasonable! We have some really nice vintage Opera prints that need framing (I want to put them in my kitchen) and I haven't found anything less than $100 to frame them

Re: Framing

did you have double matting done?

I have 2 prints I need to have framed and matted for the nursery and I know they're going to cost me an arm and a leg. Ugh.

neither do I! when I was planning my wedding, I discovered AC Moore. I had never set foot in there before I was engaged.

After seeing all the frames and 3-D matting kits that you can choose from, I couldn't understand why you can DIY for $20 or pay them $200 to have it done professionally. Chat Icon I bought a 5x7 frame and then a matting piece for a 4x6. I think it was around $10 and it looked just like a professional framing job.

when you get it done professionally, the quality of the frames is better (I think). but you can get the same look for a fraction if you DIY.

Re: Framing

I got a quote of $350 for my 16 x 20

so I got a $30 frame at target- it looks great- you would never be able to tell

I didn't even like the options they showed me- I didn't get why it cost so much - it's 4 peices of wood and some glass Chat Icon

I framed some prints myself. I bought the correct size matting and frames off the shelf at Michaels and it worked out very reasonable.

Re: Framing

the only thing I had professionally done is our engagement pic. At the time it was only $80 but that was a while ago. It's a 16x20.

I had no other pics framed professionally. I have a few scattered around the house though. My parents have a gazillion! Chat Icon None of them professionally done.
