Hi ladies

I am writing this post for a two-fold reason. I co-founded and help run a small non-profit based in Lindenhurst that helps Sandy-affected families get back on their feet. On Sunday October 6, we will be having a family event and fundraiser from 12-5. I want to let everyone know about this event for a great cause- and give anyone with any type of business, (big, small, home based, consultant, anything goes), a consideration of the opportunity to gain a ton of promotion by donating to our event.

I love the LIF community and always turn to it for help, info and camraderie- first on Long Island Weddings, where many of us started, and now here, on LIF, as I raise my 22 month old son and am always finding myself on these boards looking for all the wisdom you ladies contribute- you ladies are all awesome! So I hope this post will be of interest to you!

Adopt A House be hosting a big-time fundraiser and fun-for-all event .We will have a booth at the Lindenhurst Oktoberfest event, on Wellwood Avenue close to CVS at Hoffman.

Join the festivities!!! Big fun for kids- and even BIGGER raffles for all (see below for some of the raffle packages!)

Kids can come meet Mickey and have them have their picture taken with him for free- he'll be giving out halloween treats and balloons! Kids (or adults!) can enjoy and exercise their creativity by painting their own pumpkin to take home for a nominal fee, or have their face painted, or get a free tattoo from Divas & Darlings.

We will be performing a RAFFLE EXTRAVAGANZA of INCREDIBLE packages, gift certificates and more, due to our very generous and community minded donors and businesses.

A “Stock the House” Package of gift cards and essentials, necessities and items for the home and family, such as household supplies, home care items, personal care, cleaning products and accessories, home health, beauty items and more
A "Pimp My Ride" Package including a gift certificate for auto accessories, car washes, oil changes, car maintenance and more
A “Precious Paws” Package of gift cards for pet stores, pet-related establishments , groomers and special items for your smallest family member

And a “50/50” for the chance to receive a substantial amount of money

All proceeds will go directly to the affected families, many of whom are still displaced or in dire need of assistance in rebuilding their homes and purchasing supplies, furniture, replacing household items and more.

To make this event as successful as possible, PLEASE INVITE YOUR FRIENDS (facebook ones, live ones, whatever =) so they can partake in the fun and help us fundraise as much as possible for our local affected families. We deeply appreciate this act of "getting the word out".

Info on Adopt A House Non-Profit Organization
Adopt A House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded three days after SuperStorm Sandy hit Long Island. We currently have 537 registered families that we are helping get back on their feet and helping to rebuild our local community by providing resources, supplies, financial assistance, support, logistical information, panel discussions, programs, mental health assistance, events and solutions to local affected families. We have become a pivotal force in providing support for area residents. Our collective vision is to help each and every home in our area recover and, while ambitious, we are dedicated to making that happen. We are based in Lindenhurst, and while many of our families are Lindenhurst residents, we also have some families from surrounding towns and areas. Some of our affected families are still living in hotels, at the homes of relatives, or in half-finished homes. Some have had to walk away from their homes entirely due to mold and the lack of funds to rebuild. We hope to be able to, through our fundraiser, help as many of them with their needs as we can.

Adopt A House, due to its wonderful volunteers and generous donors, has successfully run multiple projects around several needs.
