Re: Free stuff to do

The "real" free stuff is walking with the stroller in my neigborhood (we don't use gas to go anywhere).

Otherwise, you could alternate playdates with other mommies so it's not the same person driving.

You can go to nurseries (not the paying one!) and looks at plants. It entertain me for hours thinking what my yard "could" be, etc...

Gardiner Park is nice because you can bring the dog and take cute pics by the water. (you will need bug spray)

Islip beach has a cute park.

The Bay Shore Tricentenial is June 8th.

We joined mommy & me and it is not that expensive.

Check your church and local library for summer events.

Barnes and Noble does storytime on tuesday mornings.

Last summer we spent a day in Riverhead going to the Dinosaur Museum, and aquarium. (not that expensive)

They have the east end children's museum.

Quogue wildlife refuge is free. Bring lots of bread to feed the ducks, they walk right up to you.

Goats
Eagles
2 bears

assorted hens... pheasants, peacocks, turkeys

There were several others but I just can't think of them right now. Really easy to get to, off of LIE exit 63.

Re: Free stuff to do

Also FREE on exit 63 in Mount Sinai (at the end of RT83 and 25a) is the Mount Sinai Heritage Park.

The kids love it because of the play areas for ages 1 - 13 swings, slides, climbing stuff and so on. Also, the park has a number of grass lined hills that the kids love to run up and roll down or fly a kite. Really nice day... there are even picnic benches if you want to pack a lunch.

Once done you can take a 5 minute drive into Port Jeff Village for ice cream and a walk on the dock or stop in the puppy store.

Have fun!

Did they move the puppy store? It wasn't in the same spot when we went there last weekend. Something else is there.
