free things to do with the children?
besides the holtsville ecology site, what other free things are there to do in suffolk county?

I take the boys I babysit for to storytime at Barnes & Noble on Tuesdays @ 10am.
Bargin Books also offers it on Wednesday at 10am.

I just posted a week or so ago that the Middle Country Library in Centereach just opened a very neat outdoor childrens play area ( in addition to their indoor play area's which my kids really like)...open to everyone and free 
Also, Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown!

Our library (Sachem Public Library) has Museum Adventure Passes that you can check out. They are awesome.... last week we got four adults and three kids into the Museum of Natural History for FREE. Check out your library's website for similar programs. There were many museums on our list (including several on LI... like Cold Spring Harbor's Whaling Museum, Children's Museum, Stony Brook Carriage House).

my gym, gymboree, little sunshine and little gym all offer a trial class prior to signing up.
