Friend Vent!
I have a friend that no matter what I do, or say, or have…she makes it her priority to one-up me. And it’s not just me… she does it to all her friends! For awhile her and I just kind of had a very distant friendship and would only see each other every couple of months… then she seemed to really calm down w/ the copycatting tendencies and I started to go out with her more often. Well, just as I was believing that she had truly gotten over it… she decides to compliment me mercilessly on something DH bought me. She harps and harps and harps on how much she loves it… how nice it is… etc. DH and I go out to dinner w/ her and her SO on Friday night…. She tells her SO how much she loves and wants my thing (keeping it general in case of snoopers!) and the next day I’m getting a phone call saying she’s on her way to go to the store where I got my item. I ask if she’s going to get the same exact one, and she just generally answers “Oh I don’t know, I’m just going to look around” I know I really shouldn’t care – but it’s SO frustrating!!! I just wish she’d be into her own things and not cop everything that her friends have. I feel like I never want to tell her anything I have, or buy, or do… because she’ll just show up with the very same thing the next week. This is probably totally lame… but it can just get on my nerves sometimes. And she makes me feel bad.... because if she can't in some way copy a person, she puts them down... or puts down the thing they have that she can't get. She's never happy for anyone... she's too busy trying to be better than them.

how annoying. I personally can't stand people who one up others. Its like "I have a cold" then they say "well I have the flu". etc.
I would try and brush it off. I know its hard, believe me, but its not worth getting upset over.

This woud annoy the heck out of me! Some people are stuck in 7th grade forever 
I hate one uppers and as a mom I meet more and more of them 
Sorry that you had to deal with this

Actually I have two friends like that.  
Kidding, kidding.
I have to ask you this...what are you getting from this friendship? Or is it one-way?
If she's someone you want to keep as a friend, I would find a way to tell her. Otherwise...ditch her.
