Friend's Mother Died
One of my best friend's mother died this morning...she has been sufferring with cancer for about a year now-and they gave her 6 months to live-she didn't make the 6 months...
I feel terrible for her...
Please keep her family in your prayers...
(those who have been through losing someone so close-a parent-how were your friends able to help you... I feel that I dont even have the words for her...it's just so sad...she is so young to lose her mom-and her mom was young too)

I keep thinking of Grey's Anatomy from the other night. Fynn says how nobody could say anything, but bringing him food was so helpful.

For me, there were several things friends did to help me. Spending time with me was probably the best way. I am not someone who finds it easy to ask for help, but I did appreciate the extra invitations to dinner or a movie or something that got me out of the house.
After my dad died, I found myself becoming very distracted while driving and came close to having a few accidents. I started taking public transportation to work for a few months and appreciated friends offering me rides. There may be small things you can offer to do to make life easier - ask her.
the best thing you can do is talk to her. If she doesn't want to talk, respect that, but I think sometimes people are afraid to talk to you about the illness and the death because they are afraid it will upset you. I found it more comforting to talk about my parents, even if I cried or got upset while doing it.
You are a good friend to be concerned for her.

I baked her a cake to bring to hospice yesterday-she brought it-I called her to see how things went this morning-and she said her mom "was gone"
I was really at a loss for words-
She is a very good friend, so I know DH and I will take her and her DH out, and we have a girl's night/day too
In my heart I feel like I want to do more, and dont know what to do...

Heartbreaking...
I agree with everyone else about just being there. I know my role when someone close died was to call my friend's friends to let them know. It's a hard thing to tell people & it's awkward calling those grieving to make those calls.

I was dating a guy whose father died, and I wrote him a long card about how proud his dad would be of all he did (and listed a bunch of things). He said he really appreciated it.

thank you...thats a good idea ...she has a sister and three brothers-but I am sure thats someplace I could step in... i am close enough to the family...
I already called our friends... that was difficult...

I would just visit - bring food (don't be upset if they don't eat - I seriously lost 20lbs (that I didnt need to lose, i looked like a skeleton) after my father died.
I just liked my friend to come over and we would watch movies.

my friend just lost her dad.. and he WASNT sick.. It was a shock.. he was very young and healthy..
nothing you can say will make them feel better...
for my friend
lots of hugs, listening to her cry scream vent... I watched her kids for her because she had no one else that she trusted watch them.. its the little things......
