Friends/relatives that are authors? (or close stories?)
Do you have friends or family members who have written books?
and by close stories I mean something like this..
My MIL's friend (a kid from her little crew that hung out growing up, childhood into late teens). Well he recently wrote a book about growing up in Washington HEights (dont know the title offhand) and my MIL was so excited that she was briefly mentioned in the book..
and the page where she was mentioned goes "___ and ____ helped clean up after the party, and they slept over"
She had to call me to give me a verbal disclaimer, "incase you read the book, I dont know WHAT he was talking about, we did NOT sleep over, and if we did, it was not what youre thinking" she's so cute. she cracked me up.

Very cute!
I went to high school with an author. She wrote a book about growing up with her sister, losing her mom & how she & her sister dealt with it. Fictional, but based closely on our lives.
There were some disturbing parts in it that I hope were fictional.
Also real time high school & junior high were merged into fictional junior high in the story. We were up to french kissing in 7th grade. The book sped up that activity.
I loved the book, thought it was well-written. The year it came out, she was chosen in the top 10 new authors by Barnes & Noble. It was made into a Showtime movie which I really need to watch one of these days.

I have a friend who is an author, and her uncle is Thomas Pynchon. My ex-boyfriends parents are Judy and Jerry Oppenheimer. But I've never been mentioned in someone's book.

My DH has a friend who wrote/published a book. It's called "That Others May Live: The True Story of the PJs, the Real Life Heroes of the Perfect Storm".
It's by Jack Brehm.
In the book he mentions the hockey team they played on, they were called "the lost cause". So that gives you an idea of how good they were!!

Not that I know personally, but I was reading this book on the train once and a woman tapped my shoulder and told me her MIL (I think, or maybe her DH's aunt?) wrote the book. It wasn't a huge bestseller (a historical fiction book about the Easter 1916 Rising in Ireland), but I thought it was such a weird coincidence.
