Frogs on deck - need help
DS plays out there all the time and this is the second time we have noticed a little frog chilling on the deck.
They don't bug me and I always have DS be mindful to watch where he is playing as to not hurt them.
Is there anything I can do to make them more comfortable? Are they even supposed to be on a deck? Don't they need water?
Thanks.

That is too cute! I have no idea what to do for them but just wanted to say that I wish I had a little frog on my deck.

Yeah, he's kinda cute. DS is a little scared of him, but I'm trying to fix that. I just always thought they needed a pond or something.

Re: Frogs on deck - need help
Are you near water? It's funny you should mention this - this past weekend, we went out to see the house we are in the middle of purchasing. We were in the yard, looking at are area where there is some thick growth that needs maintence and we saw something move/jump. I thought it was a cricket but it turned out to be a small frog. It was very small and brown. Then, as we were heading back into the house, DH saw a larger brown frog under the bush near the deck.
We are not right near water but a preserve is 2 blocks away. Coming from Brooklyn, we are totally clueless when it comes to this. I searched online and think that they were 'wood frogs.' I am curious as to what we can do to keep them safe too.

Nowhere near water. No pond in the backyard or anything (not yet at least - I'd love to have one!) I don't even have a bird bath.
I've been Googling this and I see that frogs are very adaptable to most environments and they can be attracted to certain flowers/plants/shrubs (of which I do have a lot).
I just worry that during a lawn mow, one of these little guys will be hit or something.

I read the same thing - they live in leaf litter - which the yard definitely has right now. We thought about the same thing (lawnmowing). Also, what happens if one hops inside the house while the door is open? This is all very new for us lol. Hopefully we'll get some info on what to do to help them out and prevent any accidents

Re: Frogs on deck - need help
They should find water instinctively, thats what they do, but they can live in moist leaf litter. Our back yard is over run with them certain times of the year!

Re: Frogs on deck - need help
I so am going to order one now.
I was just explaining to DS that the reason why he keeps hanging around our house is because he wants to be apart of our family. Thanks!!
