From 6lb 12oz at birth to 13lb 8oz at week 8?
Is this normal? I can't get Kristopher to stop eating! He has just about doubled his week in 8 weeks, he eats every two hours up to 4 ounces (or nurses when I am home), and he is he has gone from the 10th percentile at week 50-75th at week 8. He barely fits in 0-3. He is up every two even at night. He is all smiley now and I have to laugh when he starts smiling when I pick him up at 2:30 for his nightly feeding.
I am afraid he will just afraid he will continue at this rate and be 30 by age one! Jules is 2 and a half and only weighs 28lbs and is in 24m/2T. She was 18lbs on her first bday. I think he will be there before 6 months. Image Attachment(s):

Thank you! Did it slow down though? I am comparing him to Juliette who was sleeping 14 hours a night by week 8 so I am not sure of what "normal" is anymore!

Both Emma and Jeremy took forever to gain weight. They were both peanuts. By 2 months old Lucas was 12lbs (he was born at 7 13). He is now 8 months and 21lbs 7oz. This past month was the 1st month that he didn't gain over a lb in a month (he only gained 7ozs). He is crawling around now but definetly a healthy baby boy.
He is off the charts in height (30") 75% in weight (21lbs 7oz) and 95% in head size.

I am sure it is normal...and from what I have read, even if it doesn't slow down before then, it will slow down when he is moving around more.
I have the opposite tho, DS was 11lbs at 11 weeks and now at 5.5 months is only 15lbs.

First, I want to say that he is absolutley adorable
Second. I just looked in Bryan's "Book". Bryan was born at 6lbs 13oz and at his 2 month check up he was 12lbs 10oz. Almost doubled his weight as well.

He sounds a lot like my DS (who is also BF). Daniel was 7 lbs 1 oz at birth. At 5 months he was 20 lbs 6 oz (Daniel was 18 lbs 4 oz just before he turned 4 months.)
ETA: He was up every 2 hours from around 4 wks to 6 wks and then against at around 3 months. Otherwise he's up every 3 hrs. Once in a while he's sleep for 4hrs.

Emma grew 3 inches between months 1 and 2. I forget how much weight she gained, but I think she'd nearly doubled too. At her sixth month checkup she was 30 inches and 23 lbs (from 21 inches and 8 lb 9 oz at birth.)
Her appetite is slowing, now.

As long as the doctor isn't concerned - I think you've just got a healthy eater on your hands! My friend's 3rd son was 30 pounds at a year old....and he's healthy as can be - just a big baby!

Thank you all! I guess I am just worried over nothing.I thought he would have been the slower grower based on his birth weight...

Re: From 6lb 12oz at birth to 13lb 8oz at week 8?
One thing I have learned is that all kids grow completely differently and have their own eating/sleeping schedules..really regardless of whether or not Mom & Dad are doing the same thing they did with previous children. I have had to adjust for each child.
My eldest daughter was a big eater and a big grower and a great sleeper....the Twins were little (although normal) and small eaters and "so so" sleepers.
DS is (8 weeks tomorrow) a BIG EATER with 5/ 8oz bottles a day with rice cereal..Sleeping about 8 hours at night BUT he is a fussy sleeper keeping us awake..and has gone from 7lbs 11oz & 20inches at birth to being about 14lbs and over 24 inches.
Each child is different and it sounds like Kristopher is going to be a strong, happy, little boy!

Thanks Heather-I may just do what you have done, a few very large bottles and hope that it will hold him over longer.

Julia was the same way, it was all that breastmilk--lol She weighed 8lbs 5oz at birth and by 8 weeks she weighed 16lbs! She was a little porky--lol I wouldn't worry to much.
Now shes a little skinny mini--lol

Re: From 6lb 12oz at birth to 13lb 8oz at week 8?
DS grew pretty fast too. He was 7.11oz and 20in at birth and the last time we were at the Dr. was at 10.5 months and he was 24lbs and 30.5 in. He was average for weight for a while and the past few mnths he's been in the 80% He has always, except for one month, been in the 90% for length.
