From "baby" to "little boy" - anyone else experiencing this?
Cailen is becoming such a little boy, its amazing. I miss my baby, but I love who he is growing into....
And strong willed - holy sh it!!!! He really is becoming tough. I am starting to see the boy come out. He gets a temper so quickly, and he is already starting to "pretend" not to like kisses (but he stands there with his cheek pushed towards me waiting for it! )
Anyone dealing with explosive behaviors at this age? (Cailen is 16 mts) he goes from 0-60 immediately - if he doesn't get what he wants 5 seconds ago, or if I take something away and tell him no..... I know its all part of healthy development, and theres a part of me that cracks up at this little britches howling like a tough guy.....

I feel the same way and am going through the same behavior with Thomas. Sometimes I just don't know how to handle him. He is SO strong willed and SO quick with the temper when he doesn't get what he wants. Also, a lot of tantrums for seemingly no reason. I know they are probably because he can't express how he feels in words yet... It's hard!
He is an adorable little boy though with a great personality (most of the time)!
We have to get Cailen and Thomas together again soon!!

I just posted the same thing...mikayla is getting difficult
Hits when she does not get her way she was taking toys from the other kids and hitting at day care today
She tries nonstop to climb onto the living room table
Screeches at the top of her lungs for no reason
I hope this phase is short lived

Yeah. Lily is 15 months and has developed a deep love for Oreos (I blame my parents - they gave her one first!!!). Anytime she sees an Oreo, or the package for the Oreos...she stands there and cries (screams) until she gets one. Today I gave in....but only after she had some yogurt.
She is really developing a personality though. It's amazing to see how quickly she is growing up!!!

I am realizing that I am capable of being the tough behavior person with my own child (I thought I wouldn't be able to bring my work home with me) - I will share some tricks that work for me....
IGNORING tantrums. completely. As long as he is on the floor, or somewhere safe, I let him scream and cry. I wait until he stops before talking to him.
I mean it when I say something, so I pick my words carefully. If I say first eat this, then you can have this, then yes, I mean it. Just one, and a lot of the time I touch it to his lips, but I follow through.
I walk away when he throws things. If he hits me, I ignore it. He wants my reaction, so now he hits, I ignore, and he comes over and kisses me. THEN I shower him with attention. Guess what? He kisses now when he wants me to react....
I pick my battles. I rarely put any energy into his silly moody stuff. If anything, i have to leave the room because it cracks me up. I'm not saying in my head I am SCREAMING "shut up, shut up, shut up!" But my external person remains verrrry calm!!!!

I too often wonder where, in such a short time, my little sweetie went. Dont get me wrong, he is still delicious, but even reading has turned into a struggle. He used to just sit there content and listening--now little man just wants to keep turning the pages.
And yes--his tantrums are too die for--is this where the saying "Save the Drama for your Momma" came from?

Yeah its surreal and sad , sentimental at times.
Noah has occasional moments. I try to chalk it up to not being able to expres s himself but boy oh boy, the explosions. Thankfully they dont last long at all.

Re: From "baby" to "little boy" - anyone else experiencing this?
I see Jake and Max being strong willed for quite a bit now---they have older siblings. jake will sometimes throw fits but I whisper in his ear so he has to stop to listen---or if all else fails walk away. The kissing thing I dk... My 13 year oldstill kisses me goodbye at the school!

Re: From "baby" to "little boy" - anyone else experiencing this?
I lovvvvvvvvvvvvve that he does this.... So many kids want to be dropped off at the corner and don't touch me...and he kisses me! and to turn me to more mush...I sneaked a peak on his myspace page and it said my mom is my hero, she is always there for me no matter what...
they will keep kissing you...I really think its just a matter of being open with EVERYTHING******** I hear things that make me want to spit my coffee out. I am also their mom---not their friend. thats a big mistake I see... At this age...1 to 2...most kids just r busy... Mine just mimic the older ones and are mushy like they are

Re: From "baby" to "little boy" - anyone else experiencing this?
It amazes us every day and makes us both sad and proud. My DH was just saying last night he can't believe the little boy running around the house, who can basically tell us what he wants now. He's had a word explosion lately and is picking up at least one word a day. Not only that, but his memory is amazing. We went to the beach one day and I sat on the chair with him and gave him a banana and strawberries. We went to the beach a week later, I sat on the chair with him and we had a banana and then he looks at me and says, "Berries?" The week after we went again and all I had done was reach for the chair and he started yelling, "Nana!!!" (banana). I could't believe it. As for the tantrums, we have the same all over the place behavior. I usually just ignore it because it's short lived and easily redirected.

YES!! My son is 12 1/2 months and just recently started becoming more "boy like" when he pulls his sister's hair (now intentionally if she isnt paying attention to him) we both tell him know and "do nice"- last night he got mad at me and gave me an instant face lift. He sqeezed my cheek so hard i have a big scratch right near the corner of my eye, and if im holding him-and he gets mad, he'll squeeze the back of my arm so hard.... He is getting much better at expressing his emotions.

Re: From "baby" to "little boy" - anyone else experiencing this?
My DS is just about 15 months now, and I really can't believe how fast the time went. He's not my little baby anymore, but he is still my little guy. He has his moments, and tantrums, but we're dealing with them. He wants to get up on everything! His toys, the couch, the counter - he is going to be very adventurous! He does this thing now where he flips over everything - his chairs, his music table, pretty much anything, and then climbs on the upside down part - it's pretty funny and hard not to laugh at. As for the kisses, we kiss him all the time. We don't always get them back, but I'm hoping...And the dancing! It is amazing to watch him turn into his own little person.
