If you're in the mood....

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Hot Chocolate w/whipped cream or marshmallows!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Wrapped.....the most fun is unwrapping and getting a surprise

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
Both....we hang white along the tree base, and colored on the limbs - it adds a little depth to the fake tree.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No - poisonous for pets

5. When do you put your decorations up?
We start putting them up a few days after Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
WHIPPED Potatoes!!!

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
I was old enough to know the Santa wasn't real, but I still left out carrots and cookies for him hoping that what my brother's had told me was wrong. In the morning, I woke up and ran downstairs and saw that the cookies and carrots were gone. Thinking my parents or someone had taken them, I ran outside since it freshly snowed that morning, and I saw that the roof by the chimney was covered in prints in the shape of hooves and a few large boot prints. No matter what anyone ever told me since would ever take that feeling away that maybe there was something to believe in.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Shhh....?
It had to be 7 or 8 since my brother's were in High school/college and they were tired of having to believe in it for my sake.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
This year, no. In previous years, we'd go to my aunt and uncles upstate and we'd open our secret santa gift. This year, since we'e not travelling and we're hosting, I'll be at work and then going to mass, and having dinner with my ILs and watching holiday movies.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
We have a fake one. The base is decorated with white lights and then we wrap colored lights around the branches and then we decorate the tree with various ornaments that we've collected over the years.

11. Snow, love it or hate it?
LOVE IT! I can't get enough of it. It's such a beautiful sight!!

12. Can you ice skate?
I haven't ice skated in god knows how long....I'm willing to try, tho. I love winter.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
My engagement ring.

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Spending time with family, and going to Church - it seems the most perfect place to celebrate the holiday.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
homemade sugar cookies and tutles (pecan, melted caramel and chocolate)

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
singing xmas carols with my family, esp the 12 days of xmas - all the characters in the family come out.

17. What tops your tree?
A colored star

18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
Giving to my DH - I can always surprise him.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song?
Way too many to choose from....at the top of my list is "O Holy Night" "Little Drummer Boy" "Ave Maria" and especially "On Christmas Night" by the Trans Siberian Orchestra

20. Candy canes?
Yummy - but I prefer the cinnamon ones.

21. Favorite Christmas movie?
Miracle on 34th Street, DH's is "The Chistmas Story"

22. What do you leave for Santa?
Cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer

23. What are you most looking forward to this Christmas?
Waking up on Xmas morning in my own home for the first time in 4 years!!! I can't wait!!!

Maybe at 10?

Sometimes. Probably not this year. Maybe I'll save my class gifts.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
We have a fake one. Since Dh is jewish, we have white lights, with silver ornaments. It's more for a winter theme.

11. Snow, love it or hate it?
LOVE IT! hate driving in it though.

12. Can you ice skate?
yes, but poorly.

My puppy

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Just to give and love.

pumpkin pie!

Driving around, looking at lights!

In years past, an angel or a star. Now we tie a bow at the top!

Giving.

The Chistmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life...you know what? I love them all!

I don't know about anything specific, but I really want to make an effort to really enjoy the season!

Santa doesn't come to my house, but he looks adorable with my nephew!

No I just take kisses when I want them

The day before Chanukah - we don't have much - a couple menorahs and a table cloth. Last year I strung dreidel lights but they were pretty lame.

POTATO LATKES

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Mom wrapping our presents in tin foil and hiding them under our beds.

We open all our gifts on Christmas Eve. it used to be at midnight but the older we get the earlier it became. Now we just open them after dessert.

We always buy a real tree. Inside we put the big colored bulbs and on the branches we put the white lights. Garland and tinsle and pretty ornaments from many members of our family.

Love it when i'm home. Hate it when I'm driving.

If you count falling on my azz constantly....

The laptop computer I'm using right now from DH on our first "married x-mas"

So when xmas morning came my dad was like where did this slinky come from and my mom was like that is keri's. I was so busted that morning LOL Fun times with my sister.

When I was little I used to wake up before/at dawn on Christmas morning and it was too early to wake my parents. I'd put the tree on or otherwise just sit in the dark on the living room floor among the presence and enjoy the quiet of Christmas morning.

I always knew the truth about Santa. He is real.

When I was little I used to open a gift on Christmas Eve, usually the one my aunt had shipped in!

LOTS of lights, inside the tree, then outside, lots of Hallmark ornaments and ornaments we made in school

LOVE snow! Unless I have to drive in it

I haven't since I was in HS. Now with my back, knee and ankle I'd be pretty worried.

Tickets for my first trip to Disney World, or my first computer. I had a lot of great gifts!

Having some quiet time to sit in front of the tree and enjoy

Our new tradition of chopping the tree down at the farm is my favorite

When I was about 7 we were living in Utah. We had to come back to NY b/c my grandfather had passed away, but all of the toys my parents had gotten us were still in Utah. So my brother and I got a note from Santa telling us that we'd been sooooo good that we were getting 2 christmas mornings that year. I really don't remember. I do remember being mad at my brother and telling him that Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy were all fake.

When we were kids my brother and I would exchange b/c we were too excited to wait. Now I host my family on Christmas Eve and we exchange with them, Christmas day is just the 4 of us.

A hodge podge of ornaments from throughout my life.

11. Snow, love it or hate it?
Love watching it fall, hate clearing it, getting around in it.

My Barbie McDonalds. I'd wanted that sooo badly. I still have the stereo my parents gave me the last year they were together. We don't use it, but I can't seem to get rid of it.

I think I was 7 and saw my father putting a toy together when I got up to go to the bathroom.

my parents never lied to me about santa - santa was a part of christmas and he was the one we would see at the mall and get our pic taken with and he was the one at the end of the parade each year and that was fine but we got our gifts from who gave them to us - so it would say "merry xmas! love, mom and dad" and we always knew who worked to get us those things and who to be thankful towards. so it was never that big "omg santa isn't real?!" trauma that a lot of my friends had - which was kinda nice.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
we always opened our gifts on christmas eve b/c my dad had to work on christmas day - his job was the type of job that usually required working holidays and things like that so we got used to it. we would have a party on xmas eve and when everyone left we would open presents (usually, technically, it was christmas day b/c it was always after midnight) but we got so used to that tradition that even after my dad retired we still did it that way - he has been retired for years now and we still do it that way. IL's do it on xmas morning so now i get that experience w/ them.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
we have a fake tree - i've always had fake trees. we have an angel on top, a few nice ornaments from restoration hardware and pottery barn - i like my tree to be "chic" lol and we have our married initial in silver as an ornament. we have a few personalized ones like our first xmas, a few for our puppy, one in memory of our friend so he's on there, i have a few really nice irish ornaments and then we have pretty lenox ones too. also, we have a tradition that whenever we go someplace we get an ornament from there - so we have one from disney which was our most recent trip and one from our honeymoon to hawaii... among others! :)

11. Snow, love it or hate it?
i like snow! i don't like to drive in it but i like slea riding - the best is having a day off when it snows :)

12. Can you ice skate?
yes i can - it has been a while since i have. DH and i, when we were dating, kept saying we were going to go ice skating but could never find a place with ice time - it has been almost three years lol and we still have not gone!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
DH got me a beautiful wood jewelry box that he had (the top is glass) etched with my initials in it - my new initials. that was beautiful - it was from pottery barn and very simple but pretty. it was meaningful :)

being with family, giving people their gifts - i love to give someone a gift and it makes me so happy to see them really like it. i also LOVE the decorating and the music- fun! being with DH is nice too- when we exchange presents, etc.

We got such a large tree that we had to nail wood planks into the floor to brace it and keep it straight. When my dad saw it, he just laughed. It probably wouldn't have been so funny if they weren't planning on re-doing the floor after Christmas anyway.

I don't remember ever believing actually. My parents divorced at the time I should have been. "Santa" did different things at each house so I got the idea pretty quickly.

If Dad had us on Xmas Eve, we opened our new Christmas PJs. At my mom's, we opened all our gifts that Santa left for us while we were at church.

At Dad's, it was all meaningful ornaments rec'd through the years and passed down from generations. At mom's, it was mostly new ones.

LOVE IT! The fluffier the better! I love to ski.

We put multi-color lights all over the tree. Then we hang all the ornaments that we've collected. Then we place the star on top of the tree. :)

11. Snow, love it or hate it?
I love it.....until Christmas is over. After Christmas is over, im ready for it to be summer.

12. Can you ice skate?
well, not really. I mean, I can stay on my feet but I dont really get any speed going.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
I have had a favorite ornament since I was a little girl, and my dad gave it to me as a gift last year (it was always his favorite ornament too) so I can put it on my own Christmas tree now.

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Family. And it gets harder and harder every year that my family is so far away. :(

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
definitely those Pillsbury sugar cookies that they sell for Christmas! yummm!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
it used to be when all the family came over and we would roast a pig in the backyard and just spend Christmas eve together. But I live in Wisconsin now and they are all still in Florida.

a star

18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
definitely giving. I wish I had more money so I could give more.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song?
"I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"

no. I dont like them.

I cant choose just one. I love "Christmas Story", "Christmas Vacation", and "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown"

22. What do you leave for Santa?
Ohhh...I havent done that in years! We used to leave cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer.
