Frozen meatballs?
Can anyone recommend frozen meatballs that taste good and aren't funky? I am kind of weird about meat lol. I am going to a party & would like to make sweet & sour meatballs but I feel like it will take so long. I thought maybe I could take a shortcut & use frozen meatballs & make the sauce. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Frozen meatballs?
DO NOT USE FROZEN SEASONED MEATBALLS FOR SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS! It will be a disaster, that is going to make them funky. Take the chop meat add 1 egg and a liitle plain bread crumbs. then add sweet and sour stuff. I use 2 cans cranberry sauce ( jelly kind) to 1 can tomato puree ( smooth tomato sauce) I melt the cranberry sauce a little first and chop it up, add sauce let simmer, add meatballs. The longer they sit the btter they taste . I cook about 1 hour and let simmer in sauce for a few hours after that. HTH

Yes, I use the cranberry & tomato sauce/puree as well. Do you put the meatballs in raw or bake in the oven for a bit first?

i would think as long as you can find unseasoned frozen meatballs, they would be ok.... you just don't want the ones that already have the italian seasonings like parsley, oregano, basil- that kind of stuff. it wouldn't mix well with the sweet and sour stuff LOL you might be able to find plain, frozen meatballs somewhere though...

Re: Frozen meatballs?
I always get the frozen turkey meatballs from BJs. They are not seasoned. I've made sweet and sour meatballs with them and they came out great. In fact, the recipe I found online said to use frozen meatballs.
