Frustrated
Ok... I KNOW you are not supposed to weigh yourself everyday, but I do. And i always do-- even when I am not dieting.
So, can anyone explain to me WHY if I am dieting and exercising like crazy, over the past week I go up a pound, down a pound, up a half pound, etc.
Shouldn't I be LOSING weight??? I just want the scale to go down-- not fluctuate.
This weekend I worked out like a banshee-- been great all week with eating and working out. In fact, maybe eating slightly less. With working out-- I have gone almost every day-- although I took yesterday off.
I am coming down off of my period-- so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
But, what gives? And it's too early for me to plateau.

Re: Frustrated
maybe you aren't eating the RIGHT foods?
You know I don't have a lot of weight to lose but going to WW really make me much more aware of what I was eating. Things I thought were harmless were really sabatoging any weight loss for me.
what does a typical day of eating include for you?

Re: Frustrated
I am definitely eating the right foods-- I eat very balanced, well planned meals.
I was also to a nutritionist two weeks ago who confirmed my diet as being very healthy-- but I added more calories since I was eating too little.
If anything- I expected to have more weight loss after eating more calories over the last two weeks because my metabolism would have been more on track.

Re: Frustrated
I know for me that AF really throws everything off. I retain water like crazy. Are you drinking enough?
Also, I find that eating foods as close to their natural state as possible makes all the difference in the world for me regardless of the calories. For example, I was eating light oatmeal every morning with a 100 calorie protein shake, total of 220 calories for breakfast which I thought was great. I just switched to grapes, blueberries, cottage cheese, and nuts which actually has more calories but its working out a lot better.
I feel like because I retain so much water easily that my body wants to "hang on" to things and so eating more natural stuff if easier for my body to deal with.
I also know that my body takes a while to sort itself out when I make changes....Good luck!

Re: Frustrated
I drink a ton of water and I eat a lot of natural/raw products-- I am vegetarian so I eat a lot of fruit and veggies.
Maybe it's my period that is still screwing me up.
I have followed up with my nutritionist per her instructions-- but she has not gotten back to me.

Re: Frustrated
But how do your clothes fit? You may be slimming down without actually losing the weight. Muscle mass is denser than fat.
Also, any little thing can alter the scale. If it's humid out, you could be holding the moisture like a sponge.
Stick to it. It sounds like you are doing what you are supposed to. Therefore, the results will come.

My clothes are definitely looser--and it has been humid the last few days-- where as the end of last week was pretty dry if I remember correctly.
It just sux to be stagnated not that far into the whole process-- and I know I need to just keep doing what I am doing.. but I just want to lose the weight faster!

Re: Frustrated
I really wish my nutritionist would get back to me.
I have to TRY to not let it get me down-- and I need to continue to persevere. Eventually I will get to my goal-- it's not too far off. But when you don't have much to lose, every pound and .5 pound matters on that scale!!

Re: Frustrated
Why are so so worried about a number on the scale when your clothes fit better? When I started working out I gained weight and went down a size. But it takes a little while.
It takes more than a few weeks to get your metabolism back on track. Have patience.

Re: Frustrated
I know how you feel. I'm up 3lbs from Thursday, but I'm convincing myself that it's because I'm still retaining water from last week.
I was "bad" and had two passionfruit margaritas and mini cupcakes at a party I hosted this weekend, but I don't think that would add 3lbs.

it's just about getting back on track.... I did go out for dinner this past weekend, but I was very good. I only had one glass of wine and I ate pretty healthy, and planned the rest of my days food since I knew I was going to eat out.
I am going away this weekend with friends, so that will be a real test.

Re: Frustrated
Rand, you are doing soooo well. Please dont get frustrated by the scale. In fact, throw that friggin thing OUT!! That way youll only measure your success by your clothes and when you look in the mirror.
Keep up the good work!!!

Re: Frustrated
I weigh myself every morning.
I've officiallly HAD IT with my scale. I was about 2 seconds from throwing it in the garbage this morning.
I got on and it noted a 2 pound gain. The thing is there is no way I gained 2 pounds because I have been sick with a cold all week and the little I have eaten I forced myself to eat.
I am off to get a body tape measure the first thing after work!!!! That is much more reliable.

Re: Frustrated
I find that when I THINK about weight and food and eat small amounts, I gain. When I eat propery...I am fine.
Here's some diet advice from Jennifer Nicole Lee: www.jennifernicolelee.com:
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.
I am trying to not eat so much LATE in the day...
