Frustrated and bangs his head
As DS progresses in his speech he sometimes takes a few steps back. I am amazed each day how much more he's talking, but the down side is he still can't express how he feels. I talk calmly, but when he gets to a certain point of frustration he will bang his head on something hard. If he doesn't feel well and he can't tell me he'll walk over to me and bang his head on my leg. I pick him up and calmly talk to him and give him big hugs. I can usually calm him down during the day. He never hurts anyone else, but would rather hit himself Now the frustration is nights. We've been working with him on getting him to sleep, but if he gets up in the middle of the night he screams instead of calls to us. As much as I ask him to call to mommy or daddy he can't grasp that. Instead he screams and if we don't get him then he gets out of bed and goes to hit his head on the wall Last night I took him to our room, calmed him and then made a little bed on the floor for him and he fell asleep and woke up in a better mood. I've learned he can't lay with us in the bed b/c he's all over the place and kicks. I need my sleep too He's only been in our room twice and it worked ok. Not that I want to start a habbit, but it's what we gotta do to all function. Especially since DH and I both work and we have a baby in the house.
AS for the hitting his head I don't know what to do. AS I said, during the day I can calm him. Sometimes it takes distracting, TV, game, a pacifier, hugs, etc. Usually the worst is when he wakes up. I have a moody sleeper.

Re: Frustrated and bangs his head
My nephew is 3 and is a head banger. He has been doing it for a couple years now. It gets to the point where he bleeds. I don't have any advice, just wanted to give because I know in my sister's case, it's very frustrating.
