Frustrated! TTC & weight gripes!
I just need to vent for a minute...I want to lose 10 pounds, but I don't want to diet or start exercising (I don't exercise now ) while I'm TTC. I want to be pregnant badly, but if I'm not going to be for a few months (god forbid!), I would like to lose the weight. I hate being in this position!

Re: Frustrated! TTC & weight gripes!
I know how you feel. I don't want to start TTC until I get my body in order - not only weight, but also just generally healthier. I started working with a nutritionist, exercising, and just changing certain habits. I figure I want to start TTC in March, so I am giving myself these 5-6 months of breathing room to get this accomplished.
But if you want to get pregnant now, I wouldn't worry about those 10 lbs. I just know I am not 100% ready to get pregnant now, but I have a feeling (as each month goes by) by early to mid next year, I will be in high gear!

Yeah, I think I lead a generally healthy lifestyle...relatively healthy eating (lots of veggies, water, etc., but lots of sweets too!), so I figured I don't need to lose the weight before TTC (I'm a few pounds below the high weight for my weight, so I'm not overweight, and I'm not one of those women who is 100 pounds and thinks they're fat, I could definitely lose 10 pounds to be healthier!). I don't mind not losing the weight if I get pregnant soon, but if I don't get pregnant soon (god forbid), I'll be so annoyed that I'm still carrying this weight around. Believe me, I know we can't control our destinies with this TTC stuff, but I am just frustrated today!!
It's just so stressful, because I know it's not recommended to diet & exercise (if you don't normally exercise) if you're TTC so you don't throw your body out of whack!
That's so great that you're taking charge of your body, not only for your health, but for your future pregnancies!! Congrats to you!

You can exercise- just not vigorously. Walking is a great form of exercise and would be beneficial to both you and the baby. If you cut down on the sweets, continue to eat healthy, and take a walk every day- you'll lose weight.

Re: Frustrated! TTC & weight gripes!
i agree that it's probably not a good idea to make any drastic changes in diet or exercise habits while TTC or pregnant. but i don't think it would hurt to make moderate lifestyle changes, like cutting out the sweets and starting a non-impact exercise program such as walking. that could take some pounds off without throwing your body out of wack. and if you (hopefully!) get preggers really soon, you can just carry over those changes into your pregnancy. jmo
ETA: porrruss, how do we always end up posting at the same time, and saying the same thing?!

Re: Frustrated! TTC & weight gripes!
Porruss & alexlynn: thank you guys so much for the encouragement! It means a lot. When I was exercising a while ago (a year at least!), I was walking briskly for an hour. Do you think that's safe enough while TTC?
You guys are funny too...posting similar things at the same time
THANK YOU LADIES!

Re: Frustrated! TTC & weight gripes!
An hour seems a bit much to me. Of course I'm no Dr, just speaking from my common sense. I'd start slowly with the exercise and focus on adding fruits and veggies, cut out the crap. I don't see how small changes could negatively impact TTC.

Re: Frustrated! TTC & weight gripes!
Just wanted to add I just started running lightly again and I'm TTC. Its certainly not heavy training, the kind that messes up your period, so I think it will actually help me conceive if I'm healthier.

Good advice, thank you so much!! And good luck with your running, and of course to you too!!
Maybe I'll start walking but only for like 40 minutes or so, and will start eating healthier. Thanks again
