FTWM's...where are your kids in the morning and after school?
so we got custody of DH's 2 boys last february and were able to enroll them in after care after school from 3-6 and had a friend come over in the morning to take them to the bus.
this is no longer an option. the aftercare program is full. 
now we dont know what to do to get them on the bus and what to do with them after school.
i have to leave my house at 7:30'ish and Dh leaves before me. we get home at 5:30'ish.
what do you guys do with your kids?
we are in north massapequa/plainedge district

can you hire someone to get them on the bus and then off until you are home?
i think that is the best option, a college kid or someone in the neighborhood?

FTWM's...where are your kids in the morning and after school?
Most daycare centers in the area take school aged kids for before and after care up to age 12. We have used it for my 2 boys.

thats what i was thinking but i dont even know how to go about finding one. all the kids on my block are young so no college kids around. i guess i can ask some friends if they know people. get the word out

we checked into that last school year and no one services our district except for one day care center and they are the ones that are full. i think its crazy that they give our entire district one option!!

You should also call the school that the children go to. Sometimes there are mother's that are willing to help others out or even college students may call the school and see if anyone is looking for before/after school care.

Are there any SAHM's or retirees in the area? They might like to make some extra $$.
What area do you live in? Maybe someone on here has a mother/sister/ friend who can help?

we called the school and their response was "you're about the 20th parent that has called with this problem. we dont have any other options for you"

contact colleges in the area. they have entire departments dedicated to helping students find work.
when I was in college, I found a part time job through the student employment department!
they can post the job for students.
