Fundraisers.... how much do you spend
on your own child's fundraiser? Is there a certain standard amount that as a parent, you should spend? Does the school expect you to raise a certain amount? I am clueless... this is for DD's nursery school. TIA!

My son's school does SOOO many that I only buy stuff I actually want, like things that I would buy otherwise, KWIM? There are lots of fundraisers that go right in the garbage, sorry to say. He comes home with one every few weeks.

This...I don't buy for the sake of buying. Its easier for me to contribute to SD's school if they're asking for money for something specific...I hate doling out to those fundraisers and buying crap I don't need for unspecified things.

Re: Fundraisers.... how much do you spend
I generally try to buy at least one little thing (usually $20 or less). I don't spend too much, because I know sooner or later, the kids will be coming home with yet another thing to spend money on . In the past three weeks from DS' school alone, I've had: Scholastic book order form, PTA membership, Prestige fundraiser, Mum sale, Class Donation and just got the form for school pictures the other day. If I spent a lot for every single thing, I'd be broke!

We'll do Scholastics but outside of that we contribute the PTA when they need it.
Generally I don't do the Prestige thing & I flat out refuse to ask friends & family to donate for it. I hate putting people in that position.

Re: Fundraisers.... how much do you spend
I know what you mean.. This past week we got giftwarap sale, School spirit wear ( t-shirts, sweatshirts etc), Clas dues, Scholastic and one more I think.
I did scholastic for JAcob because I knew if I didn't he would be really upset that other kids got something but he didn't. I got him 2 books that cost $6.. I am not doing giftwrap but I will get a long sleeve t and short sleve T for him to wear for Spirit days...
I will only ask the grandparents if they want to contribute-- all my friends are in the same boat so I refuse to ask them, they have their own schools.

I buy all my wrapping paper from the school fundraisers. They have the best wrapping paper even if it is expensive.

Re: Fundraisers.... how much do you spend
I try to limit it, especially now since I have 2 in the same school. My parents and siblings will all buy something, and that's about as far as we go in selling. Fundraising is huge in the school, since it is private and tuition based. Overall, we put our money into the other fundraisers, not the selling stuff the kids bring home.
