Fundraising?

Hi girls,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to start a fundraiser. My sister is 27 years old and has stage 4 melanoma with no primary location. ANyway she has been out of work since Oct and they have been living on just her husbands income, he works for NYC sanitation. They have more bills coming in right now than money and I wanted to start up a fundraiser with family and friends to help them through this time and not worrying if the next mortgage payment will get paid. I have never done this before so I am not sure if there are any laws or guideline I have to follow....Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am so sorry for your family. I know when my FIL was sick, my MIL did a chinese auction and held it at the bowling alley. It was REALLY successful!

You may also want to contact a restaurant like Uno's who donates a certain amount of money for each person who orders within a sceduled couple of hours. You can get everyone you know to go there for dinner/lunch and they will donate a portion of the proceeds.
