Funeral attire for DD???

Does it have to be all black?

I bought this dress for DD. Can she wear a white collared shirt underneath? Can she wear white leggings?

Definately she can wear a white blouse and tights.

Some cultures wear white to funerals and she is a little girl, she does not have to be in head to toe blackChat Icon

I don't think anyone has to be in head to toe black, especially not a child.

I just bought his coat in case it gets chilly at the cemetary.. it's a tweed houndstooth wool coat. This is okay too, right?

Sorry, I've never attended a real funeral before.

i think it would be fine... especially since shes a little girl. i've been to several funerals where people ( including me) didn't wear all black. i think as long as they're darker, more subtle colors its fine....i wore a dark purple shirt and black pants to my aunts funeral. her daughter ( a 5 year old) wore an off white dress....

Re: Funeral attire for DD???

Definitely cultural. When my oldest was 6 almost 7, I decided to take her to her great grand mother's funeral. It was in the summer and when I mentioned to my mother that I wasn't sure what to dress her in, she explained to me that in the Italian culture, children attending funerals shouldn't be wearing black and should be in shades of white. Even though I'm a 100% Italian, who knew???

Yes, I would not dress a young child in black for a funeral. I think it is cultural.Chat Icon

But the outfit that you picked out seems appropriate especially since you plan to match it with white shirt and tights.

Sorry for the lossChat Icon
