Funny - Maternity ward

My sister in newly engaged, and HABITUALLY checks out everyone's rings. Having said that, she & her FI has just become an "uncle". They went to the maternity ward to visit their new nephew & his cousin. They got there at the time of day when the nurses encourage the new moms to walk around a bit, so there were a ton of new moms roaming the halls. My sister comes back & I asked how it all went. She said the baby is adorable & everyone was fine, but she could not believe how many single mothers there were. I asked her how she knew & she said, cuz so many of them did not have any wedding bands on. I'm like...um, they probably did not fit because of their weight gain during pregnancy. She was like, Oh, I did not know that PG made your hands gain weight.Chat Icon

OK Dumb question here, but do they make you keep it off after the delivery too?

No, they have you remove everything when you come in just in case you have to have surgery - this is the case for any surgeries - you must remove all rings, necklaces, etc. Afterwards, you can put it back on.

That's funny. I think I'm going to leave my rings at home when I go in to the hospital -- one less thing to keep track of.

Re: Funny - Maternity ward

That is sooo funny - I wouldnt want my rings getting in the way of everything - my wedding band has a design on it, and it can feel a little scratchy, so I'd feel better with it off when I'm already so uncomfortable in so many ways!!!

Maybe it was because I had a c-section.Chat Icon Althought I am pretty sure they told me no jewelery or contacts when I went to Lamaze. Maybe every hospital is different.Chat Icon
