Funny Kelly story about first hormonal mommy moment

Have you seen 'Planet Earth' on the Discovery channel? Completely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, we were watching the marathon this weekend when they were discussing a group of elephants that got lost during a sand storm. After the storm had gone by a little baby elephant was all alone. (My water works began) Then they said 'The baby has picked up his mom's scent and starts to follow the path of his mom!' (I screamed in delight!) 'Unfortunately, he is following the path the wrong way.'

I completely lost it! I mean completely, I was hysterically crying. I was yelling through my tears for him to turn around. Then I started screaming 'How can a mom just leave him?!?!' DH tried explaining to me about elephants having no emotion. I wanted no part of this discussion! I cried like a mad woman. About 5 minutes later I began laughing at myself for being so emotional!

Anybody else have these moments? Please share!

Well, the elephant's gestational period is 22 months. After being preggers for 22 months, we all might want to walk away for a bit. Oh, imagine elephant morning sickness?

I think that the feelings you had were sweet.

That was another thing I was so upset about. I was yelling about how she had him in her belly for so long, then she just 'loses' him. Chat Icon

Re: Funny Kelly story about first hormonal mommy moment

I can totally relate! I was making the bed a few weeks ago when a commercial came on tv that started showing pictures of all of these adorable dogs and puppies...so I stop what I'm doing and start watching the commercial...

The voice over says "I know how to fetch, I know how roll over, etc..."
Then all of a sudden, you see the dogs are in cages and the voice says "The only thing I don't know is how I got here." (It was a commerical for Pedigree that when you buy their products they donate to shelters)

I lost it - I started sobbing hysterically...my DH came in from the kitchen thinking something was wrong. When I finally got out the "Commercial...Pedigree" the both of us started laughing....

I was watching this and then it started to describe the baby getting lost then cut to a commercial. I had to shut it off before the show came back on or that would have been me too, hysterical crying.

Lets just say do not watch 8 Below!!! I was ridiculously histerical. DH and dog came downstairs to see what the heck was going on and DH says to dog - I think mommy needs a hug. He then proceeded to tell me that he watched it without me (during one of my 6pm bedtime nights) and said "i tried preventing this for a while now!!" Chat Icon

You are too funny....I did have a very emotional reaction and dramatic I might add to a lifetime movie the other day about sisters (my sister and I don't exactly get along). I couldn't stop crying.

This is why I cant watch the nature shows..too sad sometimes.

I did have a favorite commercial when I was preggo. Pampers had a commerical years ago that featured Rod Stewart's forever young song and it showed animals with thier babies. I would cry every time.Chat Icon
