FYI: Suspecius emails from PayPal

I just want to give you a heads up on what to do if you receive an email from Paypal that says you have paid for an item please be advised that any emails you receive from Paypal will say Dear FIRST NAME and LAST NAME. A suspicious email will say DEAR PAYPAL USER... Also Paypal will never ask for your CC info or any other personal information.

I received 2 emails saying I had made 2 payments in the amount of $176.00 and I almost had a heartattack.

Paypal's customer service was awesome. A tip they said was Paypal will always use your first and last name so if you receive an email that says Dear Paypal User you are to forward the email to "[email protected]"

I asked what is the steps afterwards and Susan the CS rep told me this goes to their investigation and fraud department. They investigate the email, the source and report this information to the FBI to shut down these companies that are sending those type of emails.

If you ever need to contact paypal their contact info is:
PayPal Customer Service Agents are available to help you during the following times:

4:00 AM PST to 10:00 PM PST Monday through Friday
6:00 AM PST to 8:00 PM PST on Saturday and Sunday

Call us toll-free at: 1-888-221-1161

We may only discuss an account with the account-holder. Please have the following information available when you call:
Your telephone number
Your email address
The last 4 digits of your credit card or bank account registered with PayPal

For security reasons, we must verify the above details before discussing any account-specific information.

And they sure do. I wasnt sure what phone number was listed and I kept putting in the wrong number and it would not continue. Then they verified my name and I had my maiden name on the account and I had to explain I got married and forgot to change my name on here.

They are really great in protecting your identity and making sure those bad companies get shut down.

I havent gotten the verify your credit card info. I usually just delete those.

The one you made a payment really freaked me out because I had actually made a payment a few days ago on paypal and to see that amount I got so nervous because I know that was not the amount I paid someone.
