FYI...How to look Good Naked...September 9th, PLEASE WATCH!! ETA: It's on tonight!
Hi Everyone!
Please watch How to look good naked on Tuesday, September 9th @ 10AM. One of my online buddies from ACHA (Adult Congenital Heart Association: www.achaheart.org) will be one of the girls on the show!!!!! 
The hope is that the show will bring awareness to congenital heart defects in adults and children.

ETA: heather has posted about her experience on the show and how it has helped her. She has had multiple surgeries and lots of scars.
Hearing her story has helped me with the way I "view and look at" my scar that is 9 inches down the middle of my chest. If anyone has ANY scar at all that they are uneasy about, please watch this show.

Don't feel uneasy about your scar. It's a symbol of you being alive!!! That's a good thing! And if anyone thinks otherwise, tell them to fluck themselves!

Thanks. 
It is hard when you are not sure of how others will react to it. It took a long time, but I am basically at the point of if anyone has an issue with it it is THEIR problem...not mine. 
BUT things like wearing a strapless bridesmaids dress in my friends wedding, bathing suits, certain dresses and tops all take on a different meaning. ya know? I give myself a few minutes to be upset and them I try my best to get over it.

I have a scar too from open heart surgery. Its very long. When I was a kid I was self-conscious about it but now I dont care too much.

Wow, good for your friend!! I love this show.
And I agree with an AP, you have NOTHING to be embarassed about regarding your scar! To me, it's a show of your strength and courage.
My SIL is 25 and has undergone numerous heart surgeries. She is currently doing well, but is to the point where if anything bad does happen to her, her only option is a transplant.
Her scar is visible when she wears bathing suits and some tops but it's never stopped her and in general her condition has not stopped her from doing very much at all.
To me, wearing your scar proud is a way of paying homage to the adversities you've faced and the strength you've shown to overcome it.

Does your SIL have a congenital heart defect? She may find this site helpful, I did:Adult Congential Heart Association . Tell her to watch tonight.
