Any ladies out there see an increase in gallbladder symptoms around their period? I am getting mine out next month bc it's not working but was curious about this.
If so, any recommendations for pain and nausea relief is greatly appreciated
TIA

I had mine out 10 years ago, I really don't remember there ever being a cycle to my symptoms, it was more reliant on what I ate.

Same. My pregnancy was what caused my stones. And anything fatty I ate could trigger an attack.
I do find that my stomach bothers me more before my period. IBS, gas, indigestion, etc.

So funny you say this. I was just telling my mom that I think her gallbladder issues are why she had morning sickness throughout her whole pregnancy really bad.... She had her gallbladder removed a year after having her 2nd and last child.

Ugh so nervous. I know it's so common but I'm scared. On the flip side I try to imagine life and maybe pregnancy without stomach issues...

I was 21 when I had mine removed, and trust me, it was the best thing for me. I had lost 30 pounds in the 2&1/2 months leading up to my surgery. I was in the hospital over night, went home the next day, and was driving around and eating delicious Christmas food 4 days later. My aunt had hers out at 40, my entire family has had theirs removed (all my aunts, my mom, my grandparents, my great aunts, my cousins, etc.... Basically anyone who ate my great-grandmothers cooking - we think her cooking with immense amounts of lard might have contributed to our conditions).

PS - my mom's (and everyone before her, grandparents and great aunts) were NOT laproscopic, they were cut up full on. You should see her scar!

Trust me. I am a HUGE baby with 100000 medical phobias and it was a breeze.
Yes it's scary having surgery and going under.
But when I woke up the pain of that awful 3 day attack was gone.
Yes, I was sore. But it was nothing some motrin couldn't fix. I think I took the percs they gave me that first night only and more for the shoulder pain from the gas they pump you with during the procedure.
You will be SO happy you did it.
Such a freeing feeling to be able to eat and not worry about that horrendous pain!

And I have no scars to speak of. The biggest one I have looks like a tiny scratch! Amazing.

I had mine removed almost 4 years ago. The attacks were HORRID and I suffered with them for years. After getting pregnant and having DD they became worse so I had it removed.

I won't lie, while it solved the gallbladder attacks themselves it opened up a whole other can of worms with my stomach. Unfortunately I'm one of the people who suffers with post gallbladder surgery issues which include D (TMI sorry) and horrible acid reflux. I still have to watch what I eat in order not to trigger stomach issues and I clearly remember the surgeon telling me oh once you get this out you can eat whatever you want...well not so much.

Just being honest. That said although it sucks to have other issues I would totally get it removed again. No way I could have lived the rest of my life having those horrible attacks. Good luck!

ETA: The surgery itself wasn't bad. Mine was outpatient. I was in a little more pain than normal because mine had become so diseased it was adhering to the inside of my stomach..the surgeon said I was one step away from having to have it removed with the huge incision vs. the laprascopy that they performed.

Gallbladder out, home and healing. Def. not as bad as I thought it would be but need my ice and advil. Any after surgery diet recommendations? I was worried about not being able to have a BM but now I'm going strong (tmi) it's only been two days so I'm not sure if it's just my body getting regular again or if I should be super low fat now. Tia!

Glad it went well. I ate normally the very next day. In fact, DH and I went out to dinner the day after!
I never had any issues with food, and I eat anything I want, but for the first year I did find myself running to the bathroom a lot. It's a common side effect of the surgery and it has gotten better over time.

Glad it went well. I still have to avoid certain foods, otherwise I'll have a case of the runs. I'm sensitive to dairy, heavily fried, and melted butter sauces (weird, but true - I'm fine with regular butter on a bagel or whatever, but a scampi sauce, I'll be in the bathroom for 3 days).
